Recently, I had an interesting encounter with a candidate who approached our front office for the receptionist position we had advertised. Despite his CV being completely unrelated to the role, I decided to speak with him. It became evident that his English communication skills were limited, and he lacked specialization in any particular field, with brief stints at previous jobs. However, he displayed enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Reflecting on my own challenging journey to secure employment in past, I saw potential in him and offered him a chance to join our team. Today was his first day, and I was eager to see how he would perform. To my delight, he arrived promptly and began his day with enthusiasm. After a quick orientation by housekeeping supervisor, he immediately started cleaning office windows. Witnessing his dedication, I started envisioning his growth within our organization, perhaps transitioning into maintenance or other areas. However, my optimism was abruptly interrupted when HR informed me that Ari, the new staff, wanted to resign. Despite my efforts to understand his reasons, it became clear that he was determined to leave. This experience reinforced the realization that some individuals cannot be helped unless they are willing to help themselves. It's a lesson in understanding the limits of our influence and the importance of personal determination in achieving success. #CareerDevelopment #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement #PersonalGrowth

Private Household Recruitment Have you ever imagined swapping the bustling corridors of a hotel for the refined elegance of a private household? 🏡 As a seasoned hotel housekeeper, transitioning to a private home might seem daunting, yet it's a move that could redefine your career. Here's why: Firstly, the personal touch. In a private home, you become an integral part of the household. Your work directly impacts the lives of the residents, offering a level of satisfaction and appreciation that's often more tangible than in a hotel setting. Secondly, flexibility and variety. Private households can offer a more varied day-to-day experience. You're not just cleaning rooms; you're caring for a home. This might include managing wardrobes, arranging flowers, or even helping with events. Every day brings something new. Lastly, the potential for growth. In a private household, you're not one of many; you're often a key player. This can lead to opportunities for increased responsibility, closer relationships with employers, and potentially higher remuneration. Transitioning to a private housekeeper role isn't just a job change; it's a lifestyle shift. It's about embracing a new level of personal and professional fulfillment. 🌟 #CareerChange #Housekeeping #PrivateHousehold

#JobAdvice #CareerTips #WorkplaceIssues Hey everyone! 😊 I wanted to share a situation I found myself in and get your thoughts on it. A while back, I applied for a job at a hotel reception and went through the entire process with my honest CV, complete with reference letters. 🌟 Surprisingly, even though I had no experience in housekeeping, the housekeeping manager noticed my CV and contacted me. She was interested in me mainly because I speak Portuguese, a language that most of her team communicated in. They really needed someone who could bridge that gap! 💬 So, here’s where it gets tricky. She offered me a position as a Housekeeping Team Leader, which was a step up salary-wise, but during the interview process, my manager suggested I add false experience on my CV and even provided me with scripted answers for the interview. I went ahead and accepted the job, but things didn’t go as planned. 😓 I ended up doing a lot of cleaning instead of leading, which was overwhelming. There were... Just a few housekeeping matters today... While I'm always happy to make introductions, please don't reach out asking for introductions to random people. Please bear in mind that I have over 22,000 connections, so please don't assume that I know everyone I'm connected with. Please also don't send me links to posted positions. I greatly appreciate that people are thinking of me. However, a VP-level L&D role like the one I'm seeking will only be filled through a private introduction for an unadvertised opportunity. If you have knowledge of such a role that is not listed anywhere, that is a conversation worth having - hence why networking is so critically important! I should also mention that I am only the top super connector in HR and adjacent verticals. Many people have mistakenly assumed that I'm well connected in every industry, which is certainly not the case. During the past week, I have been contacted by a young lady seeking a new position as a restaurant hostess, as well as by a gentleman seeking connections in historical restoration, as he has been tasked with preserving a distinguished older building that had been slated for demolition. While I appreciate being perceived as the great knower of all things, that is unfortunately far from reality. And last but not least, after I've made introductions for you, I expect the favor to be reciprocated promptly. Please don't force me to chase you down, as that can damage an otherwise productive relationship.
