Teardrops, a #Merseyside homelessness charity faces "imminent closure" due to a "perfect storm" of increased energy bills, wage costs and rent. The St Helens based group helps rough sleepers by providing hot meals, clothing and advice. They also provide local schools with food and uniform for children in need. I wonder how many other small but critical charities are facing the same situation? I wonder if this issue will appear on the manifestos or the campaign literature of any of the major political parties? #costofliving #homelessness #charity #poverty #community #socialimpact #ukhousing #donations #localauthority #school @homelesslink Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Shelter NSPCC Child Poverty Action Group UK Action for Children Simon on the Streets #politics Labour Party (UK) The Conservative Party Lib Dems in Comms #foodbank The Trussell Trust https://lnkd.in/eTNBuara

Disabled children should never live in poverty or be without opportunities to play and learn. Sadly, the findings from Counting the Costs show the reality is very different. The governments plan to reduce child poverty must include measures to help disabled children. Cheaper energy for disabled households, better childcare, fixing Universal Credit, unlock savings in Child Trust Funds, more help navigating the benefits system, plus investment in education, health and social care With your help our campaigns can make this happen. This week we have launched our Lifeline Appeal in partnership with the Big Give. Until Tuesday 10 December, the Big Give will double every pound donated to our Lifeline appeal 👉 bit.ly/donate-big-give

Want to give urgent, life-changing support to vulnerable people? Here's how you can help 👇 In our communities, people are struggling to cope with the inflated cost of living and rising food and fuel prices. They’re already pushed to the limit. Continued sharp increases in housing costs are more than many can manage. Bill by bill, the most vulnerable and disadvantaged are being pushed into homelessness. Please make a life changing gift of $72 to provide an emergency food hamper so vulnerable people have more money to pay the bills. Because $72 can help provide a hamper of food and help with long-term support people need to put a roof over their heads and feel safe. Wrap Up | Help us spread the warmth. Donate your spare coat. 🧥 As the cold winter months draw in, Wrap Up is back for the 9th year to help spread warmth across Birmingham, Bradford, Glasgow, London, Luton, Leicester, and Manchester. This award-winning campaign is a collaboration with Human Appeal and Hands on London. Donate your spare winter coat to us and we re-home it to charities that support people who are homeless, refugees, children living in poverty and people fleeing domestic violence. Simple. The ongoing cost of living crisis is biting down hardest on those least able to cope, with sky-rocketing fuel and food costs leaving the UK’s most vulnerable people out in the cold. Your spare winter coat makes a very real difference for people who struggle to stay warm in winter time. Alongside coat donations this year Human Appeal are also calling on the public to donate other winter items, such as hats, jumpers, scarves and gloves. 🧥 14.5 million people in the UK are living in poverty. 🧥 More than 1,400 people died while homeless in the UK during 2023. 🧥 Over 4 million children are going hungry in the UK. 🧥 Men experience the highest rates of homelessness in the UK. Demand for men’s coats is high ask your male friends and family if they can spare a coat to help us support the most vulnerable this winter. Be Finally Free is actively combating the homeless epidemic in Kern County through education. Our guiding principle is encapsulated in a simple question: "How can you do something different if you don't know anything different?" This question underscores our mission to instill a new mindset in individuals. Our programs are dedicated to teaching alternative ways to respond, think, and navigate life's challenges beyond familiar patterns. By educating the homeless community, we are making a tangible impact on our local society. However, we cannot achieve this without support from individuals like you. Early intervention spending on children’s social care has dropped by almost half since 2010/11, a new Pro Bono Economics report for the Children’s Charities Coalition shows. The care system has reached a tipping point: last year more was spent on residential care placements than on early intervention, among spiralling numbers of children in care and funding cuts. It’s time to turn the tide. The Children’s Charities Coalition is calling on the Government to reform the current system, invest more in prevention and early intervention, and to tackle the key drivers of demand – poverty, homelessness, unaffordable housing, wellbeing and mental health.
