The hospitality industry has demonstrated a very positive trajectory in the post-COVID period, marked by steady growth, innovative brand and PR strategies, and a focus on responsible tourism. My article in TW sought to provide a glimpse into the increasing role and contribution of young, dynamic female leaders in mid-level to senior-level positions within the industry. #travellers_world_magazine #marcom #hospitalitycommunications #womeninhospitality

Why is superyachting still a “man's world"? One striking observation for a #DEI consultant at the Monaco Yacht Show is the gender imbalance in one of the most male-dominated industries in the world. How male-dominated are we talking? Globally, 98% of yacht owners are men. On the other hand, 99% of sales executives in the industry are men, according to an insider from Monaco. The charter business is somewhat more inclusive: a professional from Antibes estimates the percentage of female charter brokers and managers at impressive 70%, although inclusivity ends when you look at the CEOs and founders. The top 20 companies are run by men even if there are success stories down the ladder. It’s worth exploring why yachting seems so rigid, even as other mastodons, like finance, have moved toward greater gender balance in leadership. On the yacht ownership side, wealth distribution alone doesn’t explain the disparity. Around 10% of the ultra-high-net-worth population is female, which is five times more than the percentage of women who actually own yachts. This suggests that even when women have the means to own a yacht, they often choose not to. While there are notable exceptions, such as JK Rowling and her 290-footer, yachts remain a "boy's toy" in many cases. On the corporate side, the male dominance is attributed to the tough career path required to become a top executive. Most of sales leaders are former captains with at least 10-15 years of experience at sea. A Monaco-based female yacht broker noted that she wouldn’t aspire to a lifestyle where months go by without seeing family. She emphasized that while there are no formal barriers for women to become captains, many opt to leave the sea before reaching the necessary level of seniority. That said, change, albeit slow, is happening. In the last decade the proportion of female captains has doubled, though only from 1% to 2%. And when these women eventually settle ashore, it’s not hard to guess where they’ll land🙋♀️ #MYS2024 Monaco Yacht Show S.A.M. Kennedy Executive Search

Giampiero Schiavo, CEO of Castello SGR, recently spoke with Ludwig Menke, Director of Global Production RE Europe at GRI Club, in Milan during Italia GRI 2024 to discuss Italy’s evolving hospitality sector, including growing investor interest and a market that is ripe for repositioning assets amid value add opportunities. 🔹 Despite Italy's low market penetration of hospitality brands, there is considerable potential for growth, especially in luxury destinations such as Venice, Rome, Florence, Capri, Cortina, and Portofino, says Giampiero, before adding that there are also significant opportunities to develop new regions, citing the growth of Puglia as an example. However, Giampiero noted that urban regeneration presents further challenges due to complex urban planning regulations and varying levels of municipal support, making it easier in primary cities but more difficult in secondary locations, where the competence of local asset managers becomes crucial. 🔗 Watch the full interview here for even more market insights: https://lnkd.in/d4ka5xHf #griclub #realestate #italy #hospitality #luxury

As someone with a personal and professional interest in the hospitality industry, I’m torn whenever I hear of a large hotel brand acquiring a smaller “lifestyle” brand. Take the Hyatt’s recent acquisition of the Standard Hotels brand. On one hand, this is a huge acknowledgment and confirmation of the influence of lifestyle brands the industry. Big players like Hyatt are recognizing that today’s travelers are looking for more than just a place to stay - they want unique experiences and culture. But on the other hand…we all know what can happen to established brands when larger brands take over. While there’s obvious potential for Standard Hotels to expand its reach and grow with Hyatt’s resources, there’s also a risk that the very things that make Standard Hotels special - Forbes called them “cooler than cool” - will get lost in the shuffle. I’ll be keeping a close watch on this partnership 👀 (Link to Forbes article in the comments) --- Day 3 of a 90 day LinkedIn challenge (along with IWILL: Inspiring Women In Law League) I’m an intellectual property attorney with a passion for the hospitality industry. My mission is to make sure these businesses have registered #trademarks and #copyrights, and strategies for expansion that protect their brands all day, every day. Right now, I’m traveling the world with my family, meeting with hospitality folks, scoping out my next boutique hotel stay, and eating my way through each country. If you’re in the hospitality industry (or know someone who is) and want to ensure your brand is protected, shoot me a message. Let’s connect! #boutiquehotellawyer #iwillchallenge #iwilleague

Last week, our team embarked on an unforgettable offsite journey in the stunning mountains of Abruzzo.⛰️The trek was not just about exploring beautiful landscapes but also about discovering more about each other, strengthening our bonds, and envisioning the future growth of our business. 🚀 Inclusion and trust are the cornerstones of our team’s success. Our time together in Abruzzo reminded us of the power of diverse perspectives and open communication. Whether we were navigating rocky paths or discussing innovative strategies for our business, we learned that our differences make us stronger and more resilient. Key takeaways from our offsite: • Shared Experiences Build Trust: Trekking together fostered a deeper connection, breaking down barriers and creating a safe space for open dialogue. • Valuing Each Voice: Every team member’s insights and experiences contributed to a richer, more comprehensive view of our goals and challenges. • Unified Vision: Our discussions about business growth were infused with a sense of unity and purpose, driven by mutual respect and understanding. I am incredibly proud to be part of a team that values inclusion, trust, and collaboration. Together, we are not just climbing mountains but also scaling new heights in our business journey. Here’s to many more adventures and successes together! 🌟 Vittoria Pisano Mariateresa Pocchiari Angela Mariutto Antonello Casalucci Paolino Cacciatore #TeamBuilding #Inclusion #Trust #BlueCrew

How to Be an Elegant Woman. I learned directly from an etiquette certified consultant, a graduate from London, UK, mentored by Diana Mather, a former BBC News Anchor. Her knowledge and background, including her time as an Emirates Airlines alumna, made the session incredibly inspiring. Surrounded by such amazing women, I feel empowered and excited to apply these valuable lessons in my professional journey! Here are a few things I've learned about elegance overall: 1. Be kind and gracious, and treat everyone with respect, no matter the situation. 2. Always dress well. Looking your best helps you feel your best. 3. Don’t apologize too much. Say sorry only when it’s necessary. 4. Practice good manners by appropriately saying 'please' and 'thank you'. 5. Walk with confidence, stand tall, and move with purpose. 6. Speak thoughtfully. Choose your words carefully and with kindness. Elegance isn’t just about appearance. It's a way of living. #EtiquetteMasterclass #ProfessionalGrowth #LeadershipDevelopment #Womenempowerment #Women #southjakarta
