How and why do false teachers disguise themselves? How can Christians identify them? What kinds of destruction do they cause? How can we protect ourselves, our families, and our churches against their false teachings? And how should we address the issue of diversity? These are just some of the questions to consider in this week’s edition of the Walking Talking Bible Project. https://lnkd.in/ghkBitEA

HOW THE BIBLE INSTRUCTS CHRISTIANS TO TREAT REFUGEES YOU CAN LOOK UP THE ANSWERS IN THE TRUMP BIBLE THE PROBLEM HE HASN'T EVEN READ WHAT HE SELLS AND ENDORSES IS THAT BLASPHEMY OR HYPOCRITICSISM The Bible, including the New Testament, emphasizes helping travellers and immigrants. Old Testament guidance from Leviticus 19:34 and Deuteronomy 10:19 highlights loving the alien as oneself. Similarly, New Testament teachings like Matthew 25:35 and Hebrews 13:2 stress welcoming and showing hospitality to strangers. General principles in the Bible consistently encourage compassion, hospitality, and justice for all people, including immigrants and travellers. Stories like the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and Abraham and the Three Visitors (Genesis 18:1-15) exemplify compassion, kindness, and generosity towards those in need or travelling. These biblical teachings underscore the virtues of extending help and generosity to strangers. Do these stories resonate with you? #Refugees #Hospitality #Compassion

AMERICA IS THE PROMISED LAND TO THE WORLD Trump said that "America is the dumping ground for the world" and in rebuttal to that statement, I say America is the promised land for the world, just like when Moses lead persecuted Jews who were slaves, to the promised land from Egypt. Many of today's people from around the world are ruled by rulers, dictators, hardcore military rulers, gang members in their homeland neighborhoods that extort, beat, and kill making it hard to feed families. Immigrants are seeking the safety and peace that US citizens enjoy that allows them to live in peace without fear. I see those people that cross the border as seeking the promised land just like Moses and the Jews of Biblical History that had God's blessings and those that opposed them met the wrath of God. Instead of the Red Sea, modern day immigrants have to cross the Rio Grande River between Mexico and the USA and meet some people that hate them. America is big enough for for these immigrants because we have towns that have been abandoned and these people can rejuvenate these towns and many have the education and skills that can improve America and are willing to work in jobs that Americans don't want to do anymore such as the farm labor. America can make it work just like they did with the Italians, Greeks, Jews, Hispanics, Muslims and other groups of people that have created jobs and prosperity for America. Moses and the Jews had people with all types of skills and education also, but if you really want to go back in time you can go to a couple of States where Mormons and Mennonites will take you to the past. America is great, as other countries have always seen us, while people with racism, hate and greed want to go back, like some of the Jews did when they had to cross the Red Sea and not follow Moses who had heard from God to go forward. Sure America was great in the past, but is greater now. Some politicians are saying that countries are sending their criminals to the US, but that is not true. Here is a short video to make you think, that maybe God is backing these immigrants also, just like he did with Moses and the Jews.

Crowd-Sourcing time... If you are a lay Catholic professional who works in ministry, then please consider answering this question. If you want to do so confidentially, then feel free to email or PM me. **What do you want your pastors (bishop / parish pastor / boss) to know, but either you have never told them or you don't think they have "heard" you say it?** This can be as wide-ranging as you want to make it. NOTE - if you answer, then you also then give permission for me to use your response (I will make them all anonymous) as part of a blog.

Pastor Ben Workentine will lead a 9-week Wednesday evening Bible study called "God's Paradox." Join him at Messiah Lutheran Church beginning September 11! Each session starts at 6:00 p.m. and childcare will be available. — Class Description — The Bible is a big book. But, in many ways, it is a simple book with clear themes and purpose. Both the theme and the purpose can be summed up in God’s Law and Gospel. While they may seem at odds, even a paradox, seeing the Scriptures through these two lenses allows the Christian to avoid many of the pitfalls that ensnare unwary Bible-readers and teachers. This class will help students live within this paradox in order to be better disciples and more able to witness to an unbelieving world. CFM news: Talking through Good Friday with our Children is really important but something we often shy away from, maybe for fear of tricky questions or because we think it's too violent. We want our children and know and love Jesus and the cross is central - do not underestimate Children's ability to grasp the spiritual importance of the cross. However we do need to talk it through in age-appropriate ways. Below we have some tools which you can use to help you do this. Making sure it is part of the big story of God is key. Whilst I am a firm believer in allowing our children to hear the word of God spoken direct from the Bible so that they are familiar with it when in Church (Children's versions such as the Good News Bible or International Children's Bible), there are also some wonderful story versions that help to tell the story of Easter in very effective ways, with beautiful illustrations. These can help us to tell God's big story in a more succinct way. "The garden, the curtain and the cross" story by Carl Laferton is a classic for good reason. It is very helpful as a springboard story to help children understand the cross in the context of God's big story. We recorded it for the Bible Buddies app and you can watch it here: https://lnkd.in/ezKvH_wY The Easter Bible Buddies packs can be accessed here too which offer questions to help Children reflect on the Easter story, using the International Children's Bible: https://lnkd.in/e5QVXWBG The Jesus storybook Bible by sally Lloyd Jones and The Lion Storyteller Bible by Bob Hartman are also wonderful ways to talk through the story of Easter. Likewise the Big Story Book Bible is great for younger children and we used this for our "Easy reader" Bible Buddy Pack which you can find here: https://lnkd.in/eCA5Fdfu
