ONE North America received the Sapphire Award from Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies Program Vessel Speed Reduction Program (VSR),   for our participation Between May 1, 2023 -December 15, 2023 the Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies VSR Program calculated our vessel’s speed using the vessel’s AIS data along designated areas across the California coastline to protect the blue whales. The Sapphire Award is the highest performance a vessel operating line can receive, and at least 85% or more of the distance traveled by a vessel at 10 kts or less to the Southern California Region and San Francisco and Monterey Bay.

Here’s an overview: Clear Area Take-off: Used almost exclusively for runway take-offs, allowing for a smooth and straightforward ascent. Helipad Departure: Minimises exposure to engine failure by enabling us to land back safely if needed. Confined Area Departure: Similar to helipad departure but used in tight spaces like accident sites, ensuring we can land safely if necessary. Direct Departure: A vertical take-off where we quickly gain altitude and speed, minimising risk, especially when the helicopter is heavy. Each type of take-off prioritises the safety and efficiency of every mission.
