One of the fundamental differences in a kind of a Founders mindset is there's a set of risks you have to take. If you don't take those risks, nothing happens. You die. I use the metaphor of starting companies like jumping off a Cliff and assembling the plane on the way down is like, well, if you don't get the point assembled, you know, you hit the ground. So making a set of those calls that are not just kind of straightforward, like what tends to be taught in more simplistic Business School classes, like, oh look, AI is going to change the world. I now need to do it this way. We have our market. Our industry is changing. Falling away and here's how we We go to where the puck is going versus where the puck has been, let alone like where it is right now. All of that kind of stuff is part of what the founder of mindset is, and then part of the refunder mindset. And it all involves taking some risks. It all involves doing some things which are not straightforward, trying to create something that's going to survive you, that's going to be an enduring institution.

Thank you Reid Hoffman … at the ripe old age of 25 again! I find myself swept up in the frenetic energy of a startup. What I wish sometimes is for the physical stamina of my youth. But I am pleased for the wisdom that comes with maturity. My observation has been that successful startups articulate a compelling mission that meets market needs, setting them on a path to become industry leaders.
