Finally, a Race Director who truly understands what drivers need to feel safe and compete in a fair environment! 🏁🙌 George Russell was full of praise for Rui Marques, saying: "Sincerely, the impressions are positive. We went through a time where our feedback was heard, but very little would change. Now, for example, many drivers talked about track limits at Turn 4. We felt that on a street circuit, it was a bit unnecessary, and he made a change in no time. That’s what drivers want. We all want to be heard, and we want action immediately. So far, it’s been positive." Carlos Sainz also shared his appreciation, starting with how challenging the role of Race Director is: "From the very first weekend, he has been really good. Yesterday’s drivers' meeting was the best in a long time. We also asked for changes at the pit lane entry to make the line more visible because we couldn’t see it, which worried us. Today, we arrive on the track, and the entry line has been widened with a blue strip, and we all liked it. A nice change with a very good approach. The way we were listened to yesterday was very positive, and it makes me happy." It’s refreshing to see such proactive and driver-focused leadership in F1. Marques is setting a fantastic example, and I hope this trend continues. Here's to a safer and more competitive future in the sport! 🚀👏 #F1 #Motorsport #SafetyFirst

Did you know that the team Carlos Sainz just joined used Excel to build their car? Sounds crazy for a modern F1 team but it’s true. Carlos has secured his spot on the Formula 1 grid for next year, ending the longest silly season in F1 history. This drama has been unfolding for months and has finally reached its conclusion. After months of speculation, he has chosen to sign with Williams Racing Driver is happy. The team is super happy. Fans are puzzled and shocked. I totally understand them, though. Carlos Sainz, a multiple Grand Prix winner and the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race last season during their total domination, has chosen Williams—a team that hasn't won a race since 2012. While Williams is performing decently this year, it certainly seems like a downgrade. Fans are still processing the fact that until recently the team was using Excel to build their car (literally a spreadsheet that grew to include 20,000 parts and apparently they’ve been doing it this way for the last few years). So yes, being concerned for Carlos is understandable. But here are three reasons why this decision actually makes sense for Sainz: - Multiyear deal (25’, 26’ and beyond) with a team on an upward trajectory. Being with a team that truly wants you is great for any driver. Plus, there are always clauses in F1 contracts to end the agreement early if a better offer comes along or team performance doesn't meet expectations. - Mercedes engine, which will be crucial for the new era regulations starting in 2026. - James Vowles at the helm. Despite jokes about outdated tools, change is coming. Vowles, a key figure in Mercedes' title successes, will implement the right mentality and bring the necessary processes and resources. Finally, Carlos might know something we don't. He's taken his time making this decision, possibly waiting for some confirmation. Maybe he has it now. The driver market will move quickly from now on. Exciting times to be an F1 fan! PS: Jeremy Clarkson recently mentioned that Adrian Newey, the genius constructor behind many winning F1 cars, was looking for a house in Oxfordshire. The distance between Williams F1 HQ and Oxford is 15 miles. 👀

You know, being a Rights of Light surveyor is very much like being in a Formula 1 team. Bear with me! Lando Norris’s and McLaren's victory in the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday has got me thinking about the teamwork behind their win. 🍾👏 Like F1 drivers, we surveyors train hard to compete in a very niche field. With the aim of winning tenders on exciting projects and delivering first class advice, whilst using the most up to date Proptech to gain an advantage on our rivals. Attention to detail is our stock in trade. Over the course of our careers, some surveyors switch ‘teams’, and on the ‘grid’, we see teams / drivers / technologies come and go, sometimes there’s a thin line between colleagues and rivals! But all that means there’s a camaraderie and mutual respect that binds us together as professionals, trying to achieve the same goal within our own teams. In F1, this is the team, car and driver performing as one, striving to be first to see the chequered flag and bring home the win! 🏁🏆 For the F1 geeks (me included) and the change of personnel for 2025. It will be interesting to see the influence Adrian Newey has at Aston Martin, after leaving Red Bull where he designed so many championship winning cars, as he did during his time with McLaren and Williams. Also, how will Sir Lewis Hamilton perform at Ferrari next season, leaving Mercedes where he won 6 of his 7 world championships with his maiden championship at McLaren. 🏁🏎️ In the Rights of Light world, the team dynamics frequently change too. Admittedly, us surveyors don’t get through quite as much champagne as F1 drivers, but we can dream and celebrate the wins when we get one! 🍾🥂 For the F1 enthusiasts, it has been a cracking season with 7 different race winners so far. Can Lando Norris catch Max Verstappen to clinch the 2024 World Championship? #Formula1 #Surveying #ParallelProfessions #RICS #RIBA

A series we've been running for a few months now on F1 Chronicle has been "5 Minutes with...". We've been getting plenty of interviews with Formula 2 and Formula 3 drivers. Some might question why we're focusing on junior drivers rather than people in F1, which is a valid question given the name of that website. Well, there's a few reasons, but the main one is that it allows us shine a spotlight on the Junior Formulae and its drivers. F1 is huge, it doesn't need more publicity, but it can definitely be argued that F2 and F3 does. On top of that, it allows us to get a perspective a lot of other media don't capture, what F1 drivers were like before they made it to the pinnacle of motorsport. And in a sense, that's already happened, as Franco Colapinto made his F1 debut for Williams a few weeks ago, but we already interviewed him back in June. We've reformed the format a little since and I've also lined up some more interviews with drivers that have a very good chance of being on the F1 grid either next year or 2026. Again, this all was a pipe dream at the start of the year, but here we are. Onwards and Upwards 💪😎 https://lnkd.in/efV8ZXDC

“It all starts with an attention to detail.” In 2021 Mercedes won its 8th consecutive Constructors’ Championship (for best overall team performance), a record in the 75-year history of F1 races. On his first visit to the Mercedes team offices, as he waited in the lobby, Toto noticed disarray. Crumpled-up papers and empty coffee cups were carelessly left in the waiting room. He noticed that the team hospitality area was unkempt and the lavatories were dirty. They didn’t meet expectations of performance, class, and elegance. It looked like being sloppy, and unkempt is acceptable. It didn’t set the right tone for excellence. The departing team principal said to Toto, that winning starts from engineering. Wolff said, “No, it starts with attention to detail.” High performance is not for some times of the day and for some teams in an organization. It is a way of life for everyone and all the time. Toto set the goal of being number 1, of everyone focusing on the Mercedes car winning every race. Every team member plays a role in winning and has the responsibility to enhance overall team excellence in their performance. Winning comes from excellence. Excellence has to reflect in everything an organization does. It starts with attention to detail in everything that people do. #excellence #value #valuestream #alignment #leadership #formula1 #formulaone #wining

Life is like a Formula 1 race – full of challenging turns, intense competition, and the thrill of victory. Last week, I had the unique opportunity to drive the same simulator used by the Alpine team. The curves and twists of the Imola track were emblematic of the constant adjustments we, as business professionals, must make. Just as F1 drivers require grit, determination, and stamina to navigate the track, we, too, need these qualities to chase our dreams. The experience was a powerful reminder of the potential within us. Interestingly, on that day, I wasn't just racing on the track; I was racing against my self-doubts. Walk off the beaten track, challenge yourself and overcome your doubts. So, remember, the only limits we have are the ones we impose on ourselves. Keep dreaming, keep striving, and never stop chasing after your goals. In life, as in a race, the only real competition is against ourselves. #BusinessResilience #GritAndDetermination #SelfBelief #OvercomingChallenges #LinkedInMotivation #CareerGoals #DreamBig #LifeIsARace #F1Inspiration
