From exploring Luna Luna to popping champagne, we had a blast gathering IRL in NYC for a few days. When we look back on this last year, the moments together truly stand out as the highlights. Shoutout to our friends who joined us for good fun (& food)!
🥂to another year of making meaningful relationships and great memories.
Understanding the lives, traditions, and celebrations of the Indigenous communities who still inhabit the cherished lands of Atacama, Bocas del Toro, Hangaroa, and Arenal is a gift, and one that we work to share with all who visit us at the Nayara Resorts.
These forests, deserts, mountainsides, and waters are sacred places inhabited by countless generations, that offer the chance for both travelers and Indigenous individuals alike the chance to walk in the footsteps of those ancestors and celebrate their memory with these preserved traditions and customs.

Last week was a powerful reminder of how extraordinary our world’s heritage truly is! From awe-inspiring monuments to vibrant traditions, these treasures connect us to history and culture in humbling and deeply inspiring ways. They are not just relics of the past, they are living narratives that continue to shape who we are today.
At The Lost Compass, we believe in the magic of storytelling. We’re not just guides pointing out landmarks; we are storytellers weaving together the tales of history, culture, and people that breathe life into every destination. When travelers walk ~with us, they don’t just see a monument—they feel the weight of its history, hear the whispers of the past, and experience the pulse of its present. And that is how we celebrated the World Heritage Week this year.
Heritage isn’t just about the past. it’s a responsibility for the future. Together, let’s celebrate, protect, and share these wonders, ensuring they continue to inspire generations to come. Every journey is an opportunity to connect, to learn, and to keep these incredible stories alive.

New Year Potluck: Where Traditions Meet Togetherness 🎉🥢
As a Filipino-Chinese family, our New Year celebrations is a hybrid of cultures and traditions.
Our potluck isn't just about satisfying hunger; it's a symphony of symbolism and shared hopes for the year ahead.
Here's a peek into our traditions:
𝐎𝐝𝐝-𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬: Because even numbers are for funerals, not festivities!
𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬: Pausing to connect with higher powers and ancestors
𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐡-𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥: Writing (and burning) our dreams as if they've already come true. Talk about manifesting!
But the star of the show?
Our spectacular feast! 🍽️
It's not the work of one hand, but rather guests came with contributions befitting the theme.
Each dish, carefully chosen, comes together like an orchestra.
My contribution? Spring rolls - the "gold bars" of our meal.
Because who doesn't want to roll into the New Year with some extra wealth?
😉Our must-have dishes, each packed with meaning:
Whole Chicken: Family unity and togetherness (鸡 sounds like 家, get it?)
Whole Fish: Abundance and prosperity (swimming in good fortune!)
Dumplings: Wealth and good luck (shaped like ancient silver ingots)
Long Noodles: Longevity (the longer the noodle, the longer the life!)
Spring Rolls: Prosperity (golden wrappers = future riches)
As we gather around this symbolic spread, I'm struck by how universal these practices are.
Regardless of faith or background, we're all seeking
✅guidance,
✅abundance,
✅and togetherness
as we step into a new year.
So, here's to new beginnings, shared traditions, and tables full of love (and delicious food)! 🥂
What's your favorite New Year tradition or lucky food?
So fun! Proof that smaller teams have better holiday parties :)
