Matt Lovell’s Post

Purpose is one of the biggest issues facing the tech industry. While incredible opportunities are emerging in cognitive and generative AI, as well as automation, technology requires a greater purpose. We must understand the impact that our collective use and evolution of technology are having on both society and our environment. Technology can be utilised to innovate and solve incredibly complex challenges, but it is also being used in ways that counteract positive intentions and hinder progress towards making the world a better place. Agree. I'd extend, to say, "We must help legislators and regulators understand the impact that our collective use and evolution of technology are having on both society and our environment." As the pace of technological change is far exceeding our ability to extend the guide rails society usually belatedly calls for.

Huge topic, but every time I talk about this subject I always get to the same place - great tech offers the time, space and empowerment to make better human connection.
