A great way to celebrate Disability Pride Month and beyond is to hire people with disabilities. Right now, 85% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are unemployed. Many of them want to work and have skills to contribute. Among those who are employed, people with IDD are working fewer than 13 hours a week on average and less than one-fifth of them are getting workplace benefits. But research shows that disability inclusion is a proven good business decision. See these stories from employees and their employers. https://lnkd.in/e8yWhv-x #DisabilityPrideMonth #DisabilityInclusion #HirePWD

People with disabilities remain under-represented in the workplace, with a negative mismatch of almost 30% between the number of people with disabilities in work compared to people without a disability. While firmly remembering that not all disabilities are visible, we’re taking a closer look at the disability employment gap, the challenges faced by people with disabilities, and the misconceptions of potential employers: https://ow.ly/rFyW50TC0Y4 #DisabilityConfident #DisabilityEmploymentGap #HiddenDisabilities #WeAreIngeus #EnablingBetterLives

As a "Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion" by Disability:IN, we are committed to building an inclusive culture and ensuring inclusive design and accessibility in our testing and products. In honor of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, ResMed held a session on 'Disability Inclusion in the Workplace' to better understand how to cultivate an inclusive and safe environment for everyone, where employees learned about the etiquette of working with people of all abilities and across neurodiversity. Conversations like these help us reflect and take action toward making our company and products more inclusive for everyone. #disabilityinclusion #inclusionworks #disabilityIN

Good evening LinkedIn! It's October! Which means it's National Disability Employment Awareness Month!! It started as a federal week of recognition which encouraged employers to hire people with disabilities and has evolved over time to become a larger celebration of the contribution of individuals with disabilities to our workplaces, communities, and our shared culture. 🎉 A workplace that practice Diversity; Equity and Inculsion but most importantly Accessibility you're creating a space where everyone will feel included and to me that's one of the best feelings you can have as an employee with a disability!! It's definitely a win!! Here's a great tip to get your Deaf/ Hard-of-Hearing/ Deaf-Blind attention in the workplace! My question for you, What are other ways we can create an more inculsive workspace? October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. In 2023, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities was 7.2%, which is nearly twice that of those without disabilities (3.5%). Workers with disabilities are also more likely to work part-time, be underpaid, and are often self-employed, highlighting the need for greater inclusion and justice for people with disabilities. This month, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of workers with disabilities and recommit to ensuring everyone has access to good jobs and pay. This year’s theme, "Access to Good Jobs for All," reminds us of the importance of inclusive employment practices and valuing workers with disabilities. At Disability Lead, we uplift the power of people with disabilities and their efforts to create better, equitable, and more inclusive communities. #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth #DEAM #NDEAM2024 #DisabilityJustice

In October, we proudly recognize National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), celebrating the invaluable contributions of workers with disabilities. Did you know that 1 in 4 Americans have a disability? It’s a powerful reminder that the people we work alongside every day bring unique skills and perspectives, whether their disabilities are visible or invisible. This year’s theme, "Access to Good Jobs for All," encourages us to not only acknowledge the talents of employees with disabilities but also to actively promote a more inclusive and accessible workplace. By making small changes, we can create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Let’s use this month to learn, share, and advocate for inclusivity—because when everyone has access, we all succeed together. #NDEAM #InclusionMatters #DisabilityAwareness #AccessForAll
