On the heels wishing you a Happy 4th of July! We continue to celebrate our Sustainable Innovation at Sicut North America! 🌟 🤝 Sicut’s composite railroad ties are manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility in Kansas by our amazing team members using industry leading technology. 🌱🚆 🌎 Our ties offer substantial benefits: 1. Durability: Sicut ties outperform hardwood and concrete, delivering long- lasting value. 2. Reduced Carbon Footprint: They’re reusable or 100% recyclable at the end of their life, which by the way is considerably longer than wood or concrete. 3. Safety & Logistics: Sicut ties withstand challenging track conditions and environments. 🌟 Together, we’re revolutionizing the North American railroad tie market, while promoting sustainability and reducing deforestation. 🌲 Let’s build a greener future, one tie at a time! 🌿 #SicutNorthAmerica #SustainableRailroads #Innovation #MadeInAmerica

See the results of our latest concrete trial using cement containing calcined clay and carbonated concrete paste! https://lnkd.in/empZxt_Q We manufactured concrete elements using cement that incorporates carbonated recycled concrete paste, calcined clay, and Portland clinker. This composite cement contains only 30% clinker. We applied the findings we published earlier: Read our publication: https://lnkd.in/ebbAVm78 This new composite cement significantly reduces CO₂ emissions from cement binder production. While we initially had concerns about its high-water demand, our experiments in both the laboratory and the field demonstrated that this characteristic can be effectively managed within existing concrete technology. The result is concrete with not only low CO₂ emissions and good strength but also excellent workability! We continue to work on understanding the underlying phenomena to further improve our cements. Stay tuned! This innovative binder and concrete were developed in collaboration with Przemek Spiesz from Heidelberg Materials Benelux and Jan Skocek from Heidelberg Materials.
Recently, we’ve embarked on an exciting project: the production of Levvel blocks using a cutting-edge blend of Calcined Clay and cRCP (carbonated, Recycled Concrete Paste). This groundbreaking mixture substantially reduces CO₂ emissions from the cement binder. 🏗️ Przemek Spiesz from Heidelberg Materials Benelux developed a new and innovative binder together with our colleagues Jan Skocek and Maciej Zajac from Heidelberg Materials for Proeftuin Pier IJmuiden (Marine test field) Rijkswaterstaat, who are committed to exploring innovative and sustainable alternatives to conventional cement types. 🌱 🌊 These robust blocks will be strategically placed in the challenging marine environment of the Northern Netherlands, where they’ll undergo rigorous testing. Stay tuned for updates as we assess their resilience and performance! 💪 #SustainableConstruction #Innovation #ClimateAction #CircularEconomy

General Motors is on a journey of circular transformation – aiming to increase resource circularity in our facilities and throughout the vehicle life cycle. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Lithion Technologies on a project to valorize process byproducts associated with our Ultium CAM facility in Bécancour, Québec. We are thankful to the Government of Quebec, the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, and PRIMA for their financial support. Cathode Active Materials (CAM) are a key electric vehicle battery component, and it’s GM’s goal to become the most responsible CAM producer globally. Enabling the recycling or reuse of battery material production byproducts help to keep critical minerals in our supply chain. #IWorkForGM #Electric #Battery Maïté Blanchette Vézina Pôle de recherche et d'innovation en matériaux avancés du Québec (PRIMA Québec) Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts (MRNF)

At Forgeway, we believe durability is the cornerstone of sustainability, particularly when it comes to adhesives used in critical applications like wind turbines, solar panels, and electric vehicles. While 'green' adhesives may sound appealing, many fall short in terms of performance, leading to shorter lifespans, frequent replacements, and more waste. True sustainability lies in creating adhesives that withstand the test of time. By developing high-strength, durable adhesives, we reduce the need for repairs and replacements, minimising waste and supporting a greener future through long-lasting solutions Our Greener Durability initiative reflects this commitment. Instead of focusing solely on 'green' materials, we aim to create products that balance performance with sustainability. We are already very close to fully fossil-free raw materials and packaging materials. Only the sawn timber wrappings used at sawmills are made of fossil plastic. Developing fossil-free wrapping for sawn timber from completely new materials is a challenging task because they must be protective, durable and have a frictional surface. Fossil-free wrapping may be fibre-based, bioplastic or combinations of both. #MetsäFibre #FossilFree
