🚀Last week, I had the privilege of wearing multiple hats at the Africa Fintech Summit,#AFTSNairobi2024, where the theme *"Fintech in Every Industry"* truly came to life. 📎 As a Fintech Enabler: Thriving in a Sea of Connections. The Summit was a networking powerhouse. Titles and statuses dissolved as genuine conversations flourished. Investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators mingled freely, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. Even my typically reserved software developer friends found themselves pleasantly overwhelmed by the influx of CEOs eager to connect and schedule follow-up meetings. The value of these connections was undeniable. 📎 As Part of the Local Organizing Team: A Pleasant Adrenaline Rush. This being the 12th Summit, the experience of the organizing team was evident. The team, an incredibly organized and warm group from around the world, made the event a joy to be part of. It became clear that nurturing networks is key to finding the perfect people for every role. 📎 As a Panel Moderator: The Power of Preparation. Moderating a panel highlighted the importance of preparation. From knowing the material to engaging with panelists ahead of time and understanding the room’s dynamics, every detail mattered. 🔔 The thoughtfully selected topics, along with masterclasses and ecosystem tours to local organizations, perfectly captured fintech's expansive reach across industries. It was a powerful reminder that fintech is no longer confined to finance; it's driving innovation and transformation everywhere. #fintech #techevents #fintechevent

Now that the Africa Fintech Festival has come to a close, it's time to #reflect on the impactful discussions that will shape the industry in the coming year, setting the stage for the 2025 edition in South Africa. The theme "Catalysing Smart Regulations, Greentech & Agritech" brought together top industry leaders to explore a diverse range of topics. The event kicked off with a round of golf at the Great Rift Valley Lodge where I had the pleasure of walking with our sponsors Victor, Vusumuzi Ndlovu and Sammy Mwangi representing Mastercard and James Mbaabu from Safaricom PLC followed by engaging discussions and networking opportunities, closing off with a heated Fireside Chat in the evening sponsored by Creditinfo Group courtesy of my good friend Kamau Kunyiha. Day 1 kicked off with a CEOs breakfast that focused on #AfricaRising and the ensuing sessions of the day delved into crucial issues such as navigating the global fintech landscape and the talent dynamics between startups and big tech, while an African-themed dinner celebrated connections and culture. The closing day featured more insightful keynotes, panels, and breakout sessions, providing valuable insights for sponsors and delegates alike. The Association of Fintechs in Kenya is working on a white paper based on the outcomes of this event to be shared with other African fintech associations through the Africa Fintech Network for conversations with regulators, fintechs, banks, the African Union and other relevant stakeholders across the continent. Looking ahead to the 2025 #Mzansi edition hosted by Kagisho Dichabe, Chairman of Fintech Association of South Africa (FINASA) where we anticipate more enriching discussions and collaborations in the dynamic fintech space. #AfricaFintechFestival #Fintech #IndustryLeaders #Collaborations Association of Fintechs in Kenya

Collins Marita , Our Technical Director Strategic Learning participated in a Roundtable discussion: Bridging the Gap: Revolutionising Rural Payments with Fintech Solutions at the Africa Fintech Festival 2024. He spotlighted the following; 7 in every 10 pple in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) Access the internet in 2G services once a month. Access is affected by digital literacy, quality of network etc. This excludes more and more people especially in rural areas. As we develop products in SSA and Low Middle Income Countries (LMICs) we need to recognize this challenges and collaborate at the ecosystem level to overcome this challenges. Africa needs more resources/investment in order for us to close the digital divide and increase digital literacy. As we kick off a new month, taking a moment to reflect on the past weeks can be truly transformative. Learning the value of #reflection from my mentor, Dr. David Thuku, PCC, shaped my leadership approach and beyond. Here are some key takeaways from the past month: - Remembering our History: Celebrating #AfricaDay on May 25th was a powerful reminder of honoring our heritage and freedom. Addressing modern challenges like Financial Inclusion remains crucial, and at Flutterwave, we are dedicated to solving such issues through Fintech, staying true to our African roots. Taking time to celebrate our diverse cultures with all our global colleagues was such an experience. - Adding Value to Others: International Coaching Week #ICW2024 highlighted the power of professional coaching in driving personal transformation and unlocking potential. It was a moment to reflect on my role as both a coach and a coachee. And to celebrate the achievements of those who have given me the privilege to lead and coach them through their professional journeys. Thank you Emily Odindo for reminding me that we need to keep at it! - Celebrating the Wins: Exciting news! as Flutterwave was named the Africa Fintech of the Year at the recent African Banker Awards, validating our efforts in revolutionising #payments across the continent and empowering businesses to thrive globally. It was a true testament of the commitment we have to building a connected payments infrastructure that helps businesses scale their trades. - Giving Back through Thought Leadership: Sharing insights at Africa Fintech Live was very enriching. Collaborating with industry colleagues to shape the future of finance is crucial for industry leaders. It was an honour to participate in the opening panel session where we discussed "building an open, innovative, and collaborative Bank of the Future in Africa". #Reflecting on these moments reinforces the importance of continuous growth and learning. Here's to more impactful endeavours ahead! 🌟 As June begins, all roads lead to Naivasha Enashipai Resort & Spa for the Africa Fintech Festival 2024 hosted by the Association of Fintechs in Kenya and the Africa Fintech Network between the 12th and 15th June. This convergence of minds should set the stage for the next phase of the Fintech innovation cycle. #Reflections #PersonalGrowth #Fintech.
