Happy Memorial Day, everyone! As we honor those who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country, it's also a perfect moment to reflect on our daily routines. Yes, habits can be incredibly beneficial—they streamline our lives, help us achieve our goals, and reduce stress. But, have you ever thought about the down side of being too habitual? On Memorial Day, when we step back to remember and reflect, it’s a good time to consider how our routines may be holding us back from truly engaging with the world around us. Think about it! When was the last time you took a spontaneous road trip or tried something out of your ordinary? Habits, while comforting, can sometimes keep us in a bubble, away from new experiences and opportunities. They can create a false sense of security and even stifle creativity. So, while I appreciate the structure habits bring me, I’ll use my day off to inspire me to break them. To honor those who’ve shown immense bravery by embracing a bit of that spirit myself. I’ll try something new, challenge my routines, and I might just find a fresh perspective waiting for me. Here’s to striking the perfect balance between cherished habits and new adventures! Cheers to a reflective and meaningful Memorial Day! 🇺🇸✨ #memorialday #honoringourheroes #USA #TheMorganConnection

The gift of Christmas (the gift of God’s Son) empowers us to do all of what we were designed to do, but will fail to God unless God empowers us to do it. It is the liberation from everything that we were ‘not’ designed to be and not designed to do. It is the opportunity and the power to finally, finally be our authentic selves. And then, how about the durability of Christmas? These things that Christmas does…but how long do they last? “Have we ever consider the boldness of Christmas? For to craft such a daring story and to do so in a manner that it is sufficiently sturdy to stand up under the relentless scrutiny that is certain to be brought to bear against such a story is boldness indeed. And when God pens a story He does so not fearing scrutiny, but inviting as much of it as any one of us can muster up, for God does nothing that is not bold. Such is God and such is Christmas.” What God writes and what God does has no expiration date attached to it. There’s no last page. No period. What He writes and what He does will never find an end in itself. He’s the Creator of eternal stuff, and only eternal stuff. This stuff lasts forever. And then finally, does it really transform, because a lot of things say that they transform, but they don’t. Does Christmas transform right down to the bottom of everything that needs to be transformed? Does it really change everything? Does it really make everything new? And if so, if it really does, why do so many people just walk past it? Think about this: “One of the things that vexes me to the point of near insanity is understanding the message of Christmas and realizing the potency of this message to transform the worst of our lives so that we can become the best of our ourselves, to shift the momentum of entire cultures so that the world is brilliantly enriched by each instead of destroyed by all, and to handily touch the hem of history itself so that history is changed in the touching. And while all of these are ours for the taking, I continue to watch the mindless hoards trudge past these things in order to embrace everything that is not the ‘everything’ of these gifts. And so I pray that God would grant them a heart ready to be captured by the ‘everything’ of Christmas.” Don’t miss Christmas anymore. Don’t. Don’t miss the immensity of what God did, and what God continues to do. Get out of your rigid and confined thinking. Look at what Christmas truly is and what it truly does. Let this Christmas be the beginning of a ‘forever’ transformation in your life. Here’s wishing you and yours all the power of this incredible gift. __________________________________________________________________________________ Enjoy LifeTalk on most podcast platforms. In Italy, there’s a saying, "Con l’Epifania tutte le feste volano via", which means, "With the Epiphany, all the holidays fly away." It reflects how January 6th, the Epiphany, marks the last proper day of the Christmas season. Traditionally, this was the point when the festive period officially ended, and everything returned to normal the next day. Nowadays, however, most businesses in Italy are only closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, which has shortened the feeling of a true holiday season. Interestingly, in Orthodox Christian countries, Christmas is celebrated on January 7th, with Christmas Eve on January 6th. This difference comes from their use of the Julian calendar, which runs 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar used by Western churches. In the UK, most people have already taken down their Christmas trees by now, following the tradition of Twelfth Night. However, you can still see some street decorations hanging on in towns and cities for a little longer.

As we approach one of my favorite times of the year, I want to extend my heartfelt wishes to everyone: Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and for any special celebration I may have missed, please let me know. My intent isn’t rooted in obligation but in genuine human connection. In a world where even our leaders often promote division, I choose a different path. Despite our roots in different parts of the world—I, for example, am a first-generation Canadian of German ancestry—we share the common bond of humanity. Over the years, I’ve built brotherly relationships with people from all walks of life, and I cherish each and every one of you. Some of these connections were formed through work, others by chance. What unites them is the joy of shared experiences. Even if you don’t personally celebrate Christmas, when you wish me well, it’s an act of community and friendship that I deeply appreciate. I challenge all of us to embrace the celebrations of our friends and neighbors. Attend their gatherings, learn their traditions, and you’ll find yourself enriched by the experience. In doing so, we foster a spirit of unity that transcends differences. In a time when hate and anger are often used to divide us, let’s push back with love and understanding. Together, we can build a world—and a nation—that reflects the best of us: tolerant, welcoming, and strong in our shared humanity. Let’s work to create communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and where our diversity is a source of strength. Wishing you all a season filled with joy, love, and togetherness.

The power of small actions !! The creation of Christmas as a global holiday was a gradual process that began with small actions by individuals and organizations. Clement Clarke Moore's decision to move the celebration of St. Nicholas from December 6 to December 25, and Macy's Department Store's organization of the first Thanksgiving Day Parade, may have seemed insignificant at the time. However, these actions contributed to the evolution of Christmas into a secular mid-winter holiday that has become an integral part of human cultural heritage. Some people might disagree, but the reality is that Christmas in the world evolved to be more about a country's cultural traditions and values than the actual birth of Jesus Christ. Jesus is still a part of the narrative, but he's not the central focus. The essence of this story is that our individual actions, no matter how small they may seem, can have a profound impact on the world. The creation of Christmas as a global holiday was not the result of a single grand event, but rather the culmination of many small actions by individuals and organizations over time. This highlights the importance of being mindful of the impact that our actions can have on the world. Whether it's creating a new holiday tradition or simply being kind to those around us, our individual actions have the power to shape the world in meaningful ways. Merry Christmas to you all 🎁🎄🥳🥳 Source: https://lnkd.in/dkks2QVH

Happy Independence Day! As we celebrate this summer holiday, let’s pause to reflect on the foundation of what our nation was built upon - that all people have the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, a freedom often overlooked when in the midst of our everyday routine. In honor of our freedom, consider taking a few moments to think of the freedoms we enjoy and the people who have positively impacted your life. This may be the perfect opportunity to jot down what you’re grateful for and express gratitude to those who touched your life in a meaningful way. Writing it down solidifies it in your mind, is easy to do, and is something you can refer back to when you need an extra boost. In terms of expressing gratitude to people, don’t worry about how long it’s been. How would you feel if someone in your past reached out to you, out of the blue and shared how much of a meaningful difference you made in his/her life? More importantly, what closure and potential happiness would it give to you by doing this? Take this opportunity to make these next few days a spectacular celebration and appreciation of all the good in your life! Wishing you a safe and joyful 4th of July! Gilda (Jill-da)
