This often happens without understanding the cultural context or significance, which can reinforce stereotypes and contribute to the commodification of that culture. Before picking a costume, it’s crucial to reflect on where it’s coming from and whether it might perpetuate stereotypes or offend. It takes just a moment to consider the impact our choices can have, and we can all contribute to a more respectful and inclusive celebration.
