Ongoing supply chain disruptions in the telecom industry have unexpectedly boosted the adoption of a circular economy model, with rising costs and long lead times for new network equipment pushing telecom operators to consider alternative solutions. 82% of operators surveyed by TXO said they're open to sourcing refurbished equipment to save money and avoid delays. This shift promotes the circular economy principles of extending the life of equipment and reducing the need for new manufacturing The circular economy also contributes to sustainability by reducing resource consumption and minimising e-waste associated with the disposal of old equipment. While the trend is positive, Telecoms.com states that the concerns about quality and reliability of refurbished equipment still need to be addressed to promote wider adoption.
