Three months into our new strategic plan, and check! Progress being made. Like most strategic plans, the proof's in the pudding. Plans aren't made to sit on a shelf. I'm super proud of the OHS team, who's making sure that doesn't happen. One of the pillars of the new strategic plan is to provide more second changes for all animals - and our community was pretty specific: they're concerned about homeless cats. So, we need to find out more, to figure out how best to help. Ottawa connections - can you help? YOU ONLY NEED ONE MINUTE! To achieve our goal, we've launched a very quick survey about outdoor cats. Well over a thousand responses to date - but our goals are lofty - we want five thousand! Help me out and respond yourself, and share the link! I look forward to sharing the results, both with our community and to the humane sector! https://lnkd.in/dZQp_G_a

No safety for kids? Let's talk solutions. 🐕👶 It's alarming to read daily about incidents caused by stray dogs and aggressive animals, especially when children are the most vulnerable. Heartbreaking stories of kids aged 1-10 years falling victim to dog attacks are becoming too frequent. Recently, a woman was severely injured after being dragged by an aggressive buffalo. Why is this happening? What are the root causes? Another troubling sight is women begging with small children in the scorching sun. What have these innocent souls done to deserve this? If I had the means, I'd rescue every child from these dire situations. We need to address these issues at their core, ensuring safety and dignity for all. What actions can we take to create safer communities? Share your thoughts and solutions. #Childrensafety #humanity #CMACGM #Safercommunity #humility #vulnerable

Your bravery in sharing such a harrowing experience is truly commendable. While it may be uncomfortable for some to read, it's undeniable that stories like yours need to be told. Shedding light on the abuse and neglect that occurred at Skircoat Lodge Children's Home is essential for accountability and for preventing such atrocities from happening again. It's heartbreaking to hear how you and others endured such trauma at such a vulnerable age. Your courage in speaking out is paving the way for change, and I stand with you in advocating for justice and reform. It's evident that sharing such painful memories could evoke difficult emotions and reminders of past trauma. Taking care of yourself during this process is paramount. If you ever feel overwhelmed or need someone to talk to, please know that my messages are always open. Self-care and seeking support from trusted individuals or professionals can be immensely beneficial in navigating these challenging experiences. Damaged, was never intended to be an easy ready and It may be uncomfortable viewing for some, however it's an important story that needs to be told. #comingsoon In 1991, my Dad died and my life changed overnight. I was sent to a children's home but not just any home it's was Skircoat Lodge Children's Home, in Halifax, West Yorkshire. It was supposed to be a place of safety instead we were subjected to all kinds of abuse. It was managed by paedophiles, powerful predators. The head of children's services at the time was the ringleader. Paperwork was lost, complaints ignored, and the authorities turned a blind eye. We were seen as scum, rejects. I was 11-years-old. There were 6 boys in my dorm, only 2 of us are still alive today. The children's home scandal is next. #changeiscoming

Disinformation costs millions of cats their lives every year. Help us Share the Truth to stop the cruelty. Though community cats and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs thrive in communities around the world, both face dangerously misinformed portrayals in the media and other avenues. It goes beyond just unpleasant words; this misinformation fuels the creation and continuation of cruel and lethal policies against cats and kittens in communities, parks, shelters, and more. By educating people on the truth about community cats and combatting false claims, we can stop the killing. Share this post, then Share the Truth at https://lnkd.in/gNc44AgY

My yearly PSA as a fellow beekeeper (and if you see a swarm, call me, I’ll be right over): The swarm season for bees is starting. If you see a cluster of bees hanging on a limb (or other object), you need a beekeeper, NOT an exterminator, NOT a flamethrower, NOT a water hose, and NOT bug spray. Please call a beekeeper, your County Extension Office, local beekeeping club, police department, or a similar organization. Many of them will gladly direct you to a beekeeper who would be happy to pick up these bees and give them a good home. Side note: Swarms are quite literally homeless bees. As such, they are not defending a hive, and are usually quite docile. But that doesn't mean you should mess with them unless you know what you're doing.
