🚀 What 7 months in a startup taught me as an intern 🚀 Working 11-12 hours a day might sound intense, but the experience has been transformational for me as a developer. At a startup, the learning curve is steep, but so is the reward. Every day is a new challenge that pushes you to think outside the box, solve real-world problems, and adapt fast. 💡 Here’s how it changed me: I learned to take ownership of projects from start to finish. I developed a deeper understanding of agile development and quick iteration. I grew confident in making technical decisions, often with limited resources or time. Startups thrive on speed and innovation, and this intense environment accelerates personal and professional growth. You wear many hats, which means you learn everything—from coding and debugging to product strategy and even customer feedback. There’s no better way to grow so quickly! If you’re looking to evolve as a developer, immerse yourself in a startup. The pace might be fast, but the learning is exponential! 💪 #startupgrowth #learning #developerlife #internship #techlife #careerjourney

I hate startups for this! These are the last days of our current batch of interns. I love my team so much🤍 But interns need to leave the team now to explore/resume other activities/education. This leaves us all full timers sad. Most startups of the size 2 to 20 usually have interns accounting for 25%-75% seats (and happiness). That is a big share. They are usually there for a 2 months (if summer) or a 6 months (if academic) internship. Once their term ends, a big size of the team changes. This makes a big mood change in the full timers. (Sometimes many even leave due to sudden changes in the environment) It is a startup and it will always have this. Even big corporates have internship programmes but there this issue is not so big. Now, after all the sadness, there's 1 good thing: A new batch of interns join! Bringing back the joy of teaching, learning & bonding. Since 2019, we have taken 45+ interns till now. They come back as visitors and stay connected to their old home, Smowcode❤ - We are Smowcode and we make software that makes software. Fayyaz Shaikh | Faiza Shaikh | chandan Mohanty | Aakanksha Dhawale | Smriti Islur | Alden Siby | Pratik Sonawane | Akash Prajapati ps: Prabhat missed it that day. #internship #interns #entrepreneur #entrepreneurship #founder #funding #software #softwaredeveloper #programming #coding #nocode #lowcode

🌟 Reflecting on My 6-Month Internship Journey at YC-funded startup Material Depot 🌟 I did a 6-month internship at Material Depot, a Y Combinator funded startup, during my second year of college(2022). As a Full-Stack Web Developer, I had the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies like ReactJS, Material-UI, AntD, and Node.js. 🚀 What Made This Experience Unique? 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁-𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Working in a startup environment is like being on a roller coaster—exciting and challenging! I learned to adapt quickly, make decisions on the fly, and deliver quality work under tight deadlines. 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗢𝗻 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Spending two months at the office in Bangalore gave me a taste of real-world work culture. Collaborating with a talented team, I gained insights into industry practices and improved my problem-solving skills. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: The internship pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I absorbed a wealth of knowledge—whether it was mastering new tools or understanding the dynamics of team collaboration. 💡 My Advice for Aspiring Interns: 𝗕𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: Seek out opportunities that challenge you. The more you push yourself, the more you'll grow. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆: Stay curious and keep learning new skills. In tech, the landscape changes fast, and keeping up is key. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 & 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲: Build connections with your colleagues. Good communication can open doors and lead to unexpected opportunities. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀: Every challenge is an opportunity to learn. Don’t shy away from difficult tasks—they often lead to the most growth. I'm incredibly grateful for this experience and learned a lot of things. If you're considering an internship, go for it! The learning and growth are truly worth it. Specially if you are in second/third year of college you can give a try to intern in a good startup, the learning curve is great and building products give you confidence. #Internship #FullStackDevelopment #Startups #Learning #CareerGrowth #TechJourney

💫 💫 All engineering college students planning to start their careers as software engineers/developers should consider following at least one technical startup founder in their surroundings. ✅ ✅ If you have the opportunity to intern under such a founder, it could be the best thing that ever happens to you. 🔥🔥 We all understand that the life of a startup founder is not straightforward; they face many challenges day in and day out. Why is it so important to follow a technical startup founder? You will gain insights into: ⚡️ - How they approach technical solutions? - How they manage their time? - How they solve complex problems? - How they handle relationships with team members? - How they build high-performing teams? - How they collaborate with other founders and work towards business goals? - How they continue to learn? - What books they are reading? - How they communicate the vision and mission of their startup? - How you can learn entrepreneurial lessons from them? The job of a startup founder is to work 24x7 to keep their dream alive. They don’t have a choice. In one of my recent posts, I emphasized that college students should start seeking internships as early as their second year. By doing so, you may secure internship opportunities with companies of varying sizes: - Startups with 1-10 employees. - Small companies with 10-200 employees. - Mid-sized companies with 200-1000 employees. - Large companies with over 1000 employees. If you come across internship opportunities, don't miss them. Such opportunities are invaluable. Personally, I recommend starting with startups or small companies. You'll learn a lot by doing so. 👍👍

I applied for over 100 internships in my sophomore year and more than 300 in my junior year at Boston University. Getting internships is hard, and it feels even tougher for students now. Despite this, the value they bring is undeniable. It was through my internships at various startups that I found the inspiration and confidence to kick off my own venture as soon as I left college. However, interning at a startup is a unique experience. I often found myself curious about how someone in HR could also be handling sales or be so involved in the company's core decisions. Early on, I was diving into complex topics like company shares, product-market fit, and how startups manage to secure funding. It was quite the learning curve from the very beginning. That's where the Growth Accelerator at DREAM Venture Labs comes into play. It's no secret that startups often struggle to attract the right talent without the deep pockets of big corporations. Meanwhile, there are so many talented students eager to break into the startup world, yet they find themselves banging on closed doors. Our program connects students wanting to learn with startups looking for fresh ideas. This summer, we're offering a whole palette of possibilities: remote or in-person work, paid or for the experience, part-time or full-time, across fields from marketing to software engineering, and beyond. But our focus isn’t only on work. We also educate interns on what it means to be an entrepreneur, the ins and outs of the startup lifestyle, and the basics of venture capital. Our aim is to spark an interest in students so they might consider starting their own startups someday or keep working in the startup scene after they graduate. Students, you can check out all the positions and apply here: https://lnkd.in/eJNaMqgU . And if you're a startup looking to join this initiative, feel free to DM me!
