Sky glow - The reason why you don't see many stars at night, unless you make an effort and get to a more serene place! The Bortle Scale is a measure of the brightness of the night sky at a particular location. It ranges from 1 to 9, where Class 1 corresponds to excellent dark skies (black) and Class 8/9 corresponds to extreme light pollution (white). The luminance or brightness of the night sky or sky glow can be measured using a Sky Quality Meter (SQM) and measured in magnitudes per square arc second. It scales between 16:00 and 22:00, where 16:00 corresponds to a bright night sky, and 22:00 corresponds to a dark sky site. Responsible lighting unveils the hidden stars. The view of the night sky heritage is a natural resource, and this right should not be denied to our future generations.
