Check out the interactive Light Pollution Map (www.lightpollutionmap.info) DarkSky recommends, to understand how your favorite city glows at night. Sky glow - The reason why you don't see many stars at night, unless you make an effort and get to a more serene place! The Bortle Scale is a measure of the brightness of the night sky at a particular location. It ranges from 1 to 9, where Class 1 corresponds to excellent dark skies (black) and Class 8/9 corresponds to extreme light pollution (white). The luminance or brightness of the night sky or sky glow can be measured using a Sky Quality Meter (SQM) and measured in magnitudes per square arc second. It scales between 16:00 and 22:00, where 16:00 corresponds to a bright night sky, and 22:00 corresponds to a dark sky site. Responsible lighting unveils the hidden stars. The view of the night sky heritage is a natural resource, and this right should not be denied to our future generations. Furthermore, it improves human health and wellbeing, minimizes wildlife and biodiversity disruption, reduces energy waste (saving money) and contributes to climate change mitigation. #darksky #lightpollution #exteriorlighting #responsiblelighting #astronomy #sustainablelighting

🌍 Unveiling the Underwater Crisis: Coral Bleaching Explained 🌍 Did you know that our vibrant coral reefs are turning ghostly white? This phenomenon, known as coral bleaching, is a critical indicator of our ocean's health. Here's a quick dive into the causes and impacts: 🔷 What is Coral Bleaching? When corals are stressed by changes in their environment, they expel the symbiotic algae living in their tissues, causing them to lose their color and vital energy source. 🔷 Causes Rising Sea Temperatures: Even a small increase can trigger bleaching. Ocean Acidification: Higher CO2 levels make it harder for corals to maintain their skeletons. Pollution: Runoff from agriculture and urban areas adds to the stress. 🔷 Effects Habitat Loss: Coral reefs support 25% of marine life. Reduced Biodiversity: Fish and other species lose their homes and food sources. Economic Impact: Tourism and fishing industries suffer. We need to take action now to protect these underwater wonders! 🌍🌊 🚀 Join the Movement: Advocate for sustainable practices, support coral restoration projects, and help reduce carbon emissions. Every effort counts! #CoralBleaching #MarineConservation #ClimateChange #Sustainability #OceanHealth #CoralHealth #CoralReefs #Conservation #GlobalConservation

What covers over 70% of our planet? 🌊 One Ocean: Our Planet’s Blue Heartbeat 🌊 More than just vast bodies of water, our oceans are the lungs of the Earth, producing over half of the world’s oxygen and absorbing significant amounts of carbon dioxide. But their role goes far beyond climate regulation. From providing food for billions of people to supporting countless industries, marine ecosystems are essential for both environmental health and human well-being. Yet, our oceans are facing unprecedented threats— pollution, overfishing, climate change, and habitat destruction are pushing these ecosystems to the brink. As the ocean warms and acidifies, coral reefs bleach, fish stocks dwindle, and coastal communities face increased risks from extreme weather events. Protecting and restoring marine ecosystems is not just an environmental cause; it’s an economic and social necessity. At Archireef, we help foster healthier oceans by restoring and bolstering marine biodiversity, creating new natural assets and engineering new eco-tourism infrastructure using Nature based Solutions for a sustainable future. It’s time for more corporates to invest in sustainable ocean practices before it’s too late. Our future is intertwined with the health of our Ocean. 🌊💙 #Archireef #OceanRestoration #MarineEcosystems #SustainableFuture #BlueEconomy #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #EcoTourism

Covering over 70% of the planet, the ocean is our life source, sustaining humanity and countless other organisms. It produces at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen, houses the majority of Earth's biodiversity, and provides the main source of protein for over a billion people globally. Despite these benefits, our oceans are in dire need of support. With 90% of big fish populations depleted and 50% of coral reefs destroyed, we are taking more than can be replenished. It is crucial to work together to create a new balance that restores the ocean's vibrancy and brings it new life. EDGE is committed to this mission by providing advanced ballast water management systems. These solutions prevent the spread of invasive species and reduce pollution, ensuring healthier marine environments. Celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8th, and let us work together to ensure the health and well-being of our oceans. #WorldOceansDay #SaveOurOceans #OceanConservation #EDGE #MarineBiodiversity #StopOverfishing #SaveCoralReefs #ProtectMarineLife #RestoreOurOceans #CombatOceanPollution

🌊 "It's Not a Shark Attack, It's Ocean Acidification!" 🦈 We often fear what we can see, but the greatest dangers are the ones lurking beneath the surface—like ocean acidification. While we may joke about sharks, the truth is, marine life is facing an even bigger threat. From coral reefs to shellfish, ocean ecosystems are under attack by rising acidity levels caused by carbon emissions. At SheherSaaz, we don’t just focus on sustainable cities, but also on the delicate balance between land and sea. Urban development, if not handled responsibly, can contribute to the very forces driving this environmental crisis. It's time to realize that every decision we make—whether it's about waste management or industrial pollution—has an impact beyond our city limits. Imagine going to your favorite beach spot, only to find fish skeletons washed ashore instead of vibrant marine life. This may sound dramatic, but it’s becoming the reality in many places across the globe. Protecting our oceans isn’t just about preserving beauty; it’s about saving the very systems that sustain life on Earth. Let's build smarter, greener cities with SheherSaaz!
