The Challenge 22.06.2024 Here is a list of top Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) No. Name Founded Converted as IIT Website Current Year Age 1 IIT Kharagpur 1951 1951 www.iitkgp.ac.in 2024 73 2 IIT Bombay 1958 1958 www.iitb.ac.in 2024 66 3 IIT Madras 1959 1959 www.iitm.ac.in 2024 65 4 IIT Kanpur 1959 1959 www.iitk.ac.in 2024 65 5 IIT Delhi 1961 1961 home.iitd.ac.in 2024 63 332 According to Annual Report 2019-20 of IIT Bombay In the 62 years of its existence, about 60,000 students have graduated from IIT Bombay. Assuming somewhat same output from the top 5 IITs, >3 lac students may have graduated till now. Now we can see the efforts of these 5 IIT's cumulative 332 years (Three + centurie) that India’s rank in the List of 193 countries by Human Development Index dropped from 114th (out of 144 countries) in 1990 to alarming 134 (out of 193 countries) in 2022. So despite all that investment of money, efforts and brain power, today in the Human Development Index we are below more than 130+ nations. But at the same time we should understand that we are already number one in terms of population in the whole world. Now if we want to jump from that 134 to 1 in HDI also, we must take some enormous steps at a fast pace. We understood that all those other 133 countries may also work for that coveted position. So in place of talking about our weaknesses we must focus upon our enormous strength which no other country can match with us. If we train and deploy more than one lac additional young persons per year to just enhance the HDI, we can save more lives than the entire population of Switzerland within the next three years. https://lnkd.in/d49MjB5E
