Wrapping Up 2024: Creating $90M of increased employment income for the AI future at 10 Academy As 2024 comes to a close, we look back with pride on the outcomes we've achieved with our community. With a clear vision for the future, the energy of the team and the steadfast support of our partners, this year has been a notable journey of realizing improved employment outcomes for African youth in a rapidly changing AI future. This year, our programs empowered 2321 individuals with global-level, job-ready skills tailored to diverse sectors. Out of 6556 applicants, 327 graduated with certification, collectively adding an estimated US$92.9M in lifetime earnings and with every $1 invested resulting in US$465 in additional employment income, a ROI of 465x. WSJ reports that applications for an MBA are waaaay up. I'm happy to see this. - most professionals still have a bit of a gap in understanding how what they are working on provides hard value to an org - increased knowledge about the flow and value of $, investment, foreign trade, etc. is always a good thing - small businesses still make up over 40% of the workforce; Start One!! - yes, the richest people I know don't have an MBA (and some a College Degree), but...we are not going to be one of those, so... - AI and associated tools need to have an ROI related to them...MBA's will only help making this happen - Your Company Might be willing to PAY FOR IT!! :))) - getting one changed my career

Case Study: You are part of the HR team at a company that hires over 1,000+ graduate trainees each year. Your organization wants to improve its selection process by predicting which candidates are most likely to succeed in the company or specific roles using machine learning. Objective: Your task is to design a machine learning model that predicts trainee success with a certain level of accuracy (x%). This particular case study for a client was an interesting project, offering the opportunity to relearn #MachineLearning and apply it effectively. I designed a not so accurate(r=34.45) sample dataset, and #MultipleLinearRegression was used to create the predictive model I have designed a sample dataset and applied #MultipleLinearRegression in creating this model. Skills focussed organisations, it’s a movement that we have been hearing a lot of in the L&D industry and wider HR disciplines over the last year or so. Is this a new thing? Not really, we have been talking about transferable skills for donkeys years. However, to me its always felt like an aspiration model. Everyone agrees that we have a multitude of skills that can be transferred across many domains. The problem I have found with it though, is that the skills are difficult to quantify, often they are very brief statements or definitions with relatively little substance behind them. This leads to a lack of confidence on whether individuals really do have the skills to move domain. In addition to this, domain knowledge and skills are generally interconnected in this thinking, which inadvertently creates very narrow view in whether and individual has skills that are transferable (thoughts on this for another time). So, what changed to create this re-focus on this old thinking? From my perspective, its technology. The technology we have now through AI lets us analyse and understand the skills we need in an organisation and analyse data (if we have it) to see what skills people have and where we may be able to utilise them across an organisation. Looking at a skills-based strategy in your L&D offering presents an opportunity that L&D have sought for a long time but never had the ability to leverage in a cost effective and confident way. #skills #learning #development

Overall, 60 per cent of Canadians believe upskilling is very important for advancing their careers. “Upskilling is no longer a choice, but a necessity for career progression with the rise of new technologies like AI and our current competitive job market,” says Sarah Stockdale, founder and CEO of Growclass, which did the survey.
