Develop water conservation projects for Fortune 1,000 Companies at Capture H2O

I’m not sure how I feel about setting an “internal price” for #water. An internal price is a price that more accurately reflects the value of a gallon of water to the organization as opposed to the price paid for that gallon of water. Everyone knows that #water is not priced correctly and should be much more expensive. An internal price helps water conservation projects get over the finish line because it shortens payback on the investment. However, TRUE economic viability determines the success or failure of a movement over the long term. This may be a dangerous practice that leads to credibility concerns. I would hate for decision makers to question the true viability of a Capture H2O water conservation project because of past credibility concerns. I welcome your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/guiSsZM3 Watermarq #sustainability Will Sarni

Thank you for the challenge Brendon Marks! Appreciate the point that internal water pricing does not shift how water is valued in the real economy in the short-term, but we consider it an effective means of rapidly upscaling corporate contributions to water security in a way that is targeted and sensitive to contextual needs. And in the long-term, developing rigorous, data-informed methodologies for valuing water amongst corporate users could inform approaches to water pricing in the public sector, whilst recognising the need to uphold the human right to water. As evidenced in the report, internal water pricing can do more than shortening the payback on conservation investments- it is used by companies to identify & proactively mitigate material water-related risk, and improve water stewardship outcomes by offering clearer avenues for investment that respond to context-specific needs. By being transparent about the methodology used to calculate internal pricing, and using publicly available data where possible, we hope to mitigate such 'credibility concerns'.
