How Micromanagement Led Me to My Dreams ⤵ I know the title sounds crazy, but hear me out. When people think of micromanagement, it’s usually linked to employee disengagement, job dissatisfaction, and even lost productivity. I experienced all of that firsthand. But here’s why it worked for me. At the time, I wasn’t 100% clear on what I wanted out of my career. Then came the micromanagement, and I suddenly knew exactly what I didn’t want. It became my catalyst for discovering what I did want. Sometimes, knowing what you don’t want is enough to spark clarity. Here’s how I identified what I do want: → Set boundaries early: Micromanagement taught me the importance of personal boundaries, something I now protect fiercely. → Define my passion: Realising what drained me led me to focus on the tasks and projects that fuel my passion. → Leverage discomfort for growth: Instead of resisting, I used the discomfort to refine my goals and push myself toward my dreams. Micromanagement isn’t always a death sentence for your career it can be the wake-up call you need. What’s been your biggest career revelation? This is often the problem people face when making a career change. This idea of "it's not so bad". When it's bad you know exactly what you don't want and it drives action.
