It's great to see this paper come out after 2 years of R&D and clinical testing. A major hypothesis behind Pear Bio is that functional precision medicine hasn't been accurate enough in the past because assays relied on single measurements to predict patient outcomes. Pear Bio's live-cell assay measures over 40 explainable phenotypic/dynamic features in time-lapsed 3D images of patient microtumors to predict treatment response. This paper is an early look at using some of those features to predict patient response across different treatment options/combinations/targets/MoAs, and applying it to a high unmet need in triple negative breast cancer. We are currently running bigger trials across multiple cancers with next-generation cell culture + computer vision/machine learning models to make accurate treatment response predictions for cancers with high unmet need. This work is also an early step in translating our own therapeutics pipeline into the clinic for patients who don't benefit from existing treatments.
