Successful companies start with great leadership but end the day with the work of great employees. Often the road between the two is rocky. One of the key areas that we focus in our business advisory board meetings is dealing with helping business owners deal with people challenges in their businesses. Where better to get advice than from other leaders who have faced similar challenges in their businesses.

I have learned there are three vital elements outside of our skills and competencies that are essential in board leadership: 1. Presence: our commitment to being at meetings, events, programs, and more to engage with stakeholders offers incredible support to the organizations we serve. 2. Advocacy: the ability to learn about the organization and champion the work being done is a pivotal responsibility to lift up the values, mission, purpose, and vision of the organization. 3. Partnership: We should not take lightly the honorable duty of inviting others on the journey to learn about and connect with the organizations we support. Connecting like-minded organizations or people who can make an impact together is a role we should be proud to serve. Many leaders believe board work builds resumes, and YES, it does. However, if you align with the proper organization and have the opportunity to propel an organization's future, recognize how compelling your leadership is. Be ready to roll up your sleeves and be a board member who creates magic in those spaces. #leadership #boardleadership #communityleadership #partnerships #foundation #boarddirector #serve
