Significant project disputes and claims are becoming too frequent - look at the Site C and the North Shore WWTP projects. What can we do as an industry (clients, consultants, contractors and stakeholders) to avoid claims, and streamline dispute resolution? Looking forward to this important discussion being led by the British Columbia Construction Roundtable. Following a panel discussion last month on this same topic, on May 15th the #BCCR is hosting a signature roundtable session, where industry participants will share and discuss solutions to Claims Avoidance and Dispute Resolution. See you there! #construction #engineering #infrastructure #WeBuildBC

UK Construction Week again today, and took part in a panel chaired by Deborah Madden of CITB – Blueprint for Developing Industry-Ready Professionals. Fellow panellists were Tim Balcon CITB, Neil Jefferson of Home Builders Federation, Alasdair Reisner of Civil Engineering Contractors Association (National), Brian Berry of Federation of Master Builders and James M. Butcher of National Federation of Builders and our focus was very much on how we can support a joined up, industry led approach to competence and delivering the new entrants we need. The three words that jumped out are Competence (everything starts here and the new regulatory requirement is a catalyst for change), Consistency (initiative overload and diluted messages are undermining the collective effort and Crowd (we have to make it easy for employers because unless we harness the crowd effectively we are doomed to fail). Some great questions from Cathryn Greville and Samuel Asiamah on how we are more inclusive and target the right message at the right people. Thanks all for insights.
