Summer Stroke Prevention As we step into summer, the weather becomes intense and directly impacts our health. Among them, the risk of stroke in sunny weather is very high. According to reports, erratic weather changes can alter the hospital admission rate for stroke cases. The elderly and people with many co-morbidities are susceptible to heat stroke. We need to remember some ways to prevent strokes in the summer for ourselves and our loved ones: 🔥 Drink enough water: dehydration is one of the causes of stroke. Therefore, we need to drink enough water regularly. Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water. 🔥Exercise regularly: In fact, exercising or being physically active will help improve general health and vascular endurance and reduce the risk of stroke. 🔥Eat lots of green vegetables: Amino acids found in plants will help improve cardiovascular health and regulate blood pressure better. 🔥Avoid turning on the air conditioner at too low temperature. You should keep the air conditioner temperature 3-4 degrees lower than outside, and avoid too large temperature difference. These are some basic methods to help you prevent stroke in the summer. World Stroke Day: Remembering My Father and Raising Awareness Today, on World Stroke Day, I find myself reflecting on a profound loss in my life—my father, who passed away after suffering a stroke. This experience, while painful, has become my source of motivation to speak about the importance of stroke awareness, prevention, and education. Stroke doesn’t always offer clear warnings, and it can impact anyone. However, timely action can mean the difference between life and death. Recognizing symptoms early—such as sudden numbness, confusion, difficulty speaking, vision troubles, or loss of coordination—is essential. Educating ourselves, our families, and our communities about these signs can make a significant impact on saving lives. When it comes to prevention, small lifestyle changes can be incredibly effective. A balanced diet, regular physical activity, and stress management aren’t just buzzwords; they’re powerful tools in reducing stroke risk. Encouraging regular health checkups, especially monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar, is a preventive measure that everyone should prioritise. For me, today is about honouring my father’s memory by advocating for stroke awareness. I urge everyone to take time to understand stroke risk factors, educate loved ones, and support initiatives promoting healthy living. Today World Stroke Day Stroke can affect anyone, regardless of age or background, but there are steps we can take to significantly reduce the risk. 🙌 💡 Did you know that stroke is largely preventable? Here are some key steps to consider for stroke prevention: 💙 Maintain a Healthy Diet: A balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, can help keep your blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight in check. Reducing your intake of salt and processed foods is also important. 💙 Stay Physically Active: Regular physical activity is one of the best ways to keep your blood vessels, heart, and brain healthy. Even simple activities like a brisk walk, swimming, or yoga can make a world of difference. 💙 Manage Stress: Chronic stress can contribute to high blood pressure and other risk factors for stroke. Find effective ways to manage stress, whether through relaxation techniques, mindfulness, or seeking support from a therapist or counsellor. 💙 Don't Smoke: Smoking damages blood vessels and increases the risk of stroke. If you smoke, seek help to quit, and if you don't smoke, avoid starting. 💙 Limit Alcohol Consumption: Excessive alcohol intake can lead to high blood pressure and other cardiovascular issues.
