Supermarket Income REIT PLC (LSE:SUPR, OTC:SUPIF) is “walking the talk” with its latest Tesco acquisition, reckon analysts at Shore Capital Markets. The London-listed investment trust bought the 54,000-square-foot omni-channel store for around £35 million, hot on the heels of its recent commitment to deploy existing debt capital into value opportunities with shorter lease terms. Shore Cap said the deal “should be immediately earnings accretive and also enhance NTA once the opportunity to regear the existing lease term arises”. Analysts added: “With an undemanding portfolio LTV of 33%, 3.1% average cost of debt and c.£65m of undrawn debt, SUPR remains well placed to evaluate strategic further acquisitions given the current attractive margins between new debt at c.5.5% and selected acquisitions currently yielding over 7%.” More at #Proactive #ProactiveInvestors #LSE #OTC #SUPR #SUPIF http://ow.ly/vHpB105mYP3

Middle-market deal activity experienced a step back from April to May, dropping from 78 deals in April to just 53 in May, according to LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) data. "Distributable earnings increased 1% from a year earlier to $1.27 billion, or 98 cents a share, the world’s biggest alternative-asset manager said Thursday in a statement. That was 2 cents more than the average estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Shares of New York-based Blackstone fell 2.1% to $120.49 at 7:50 a.m. in New York. The firm’s shares slumped 5.9% this year through Wednesday, trailing publicly traded US rivals Apollo Global Management Inc., KKR & Co. and Carlyle Group Inc. The pace of cashing out of deals in private equity and real estate slowed during the period, crimping the amount of profit available to shareholders. Would-be buyers remained on the sidelines as higher interest rates increased borrowing costs. (...) Blackstone’s asset growth, as well as performance gains for key retail funds, helped boost fee-related earnings by 12%, mitigating the slow spell for deal exits. It was also the first quarter since late 2022 that Blackstone’s big real estate fund for individuals collected incentive fees, which are tied to performance thresholds. The firm’s credit fund for individuals took in those fees as well. Blackstone’s credit and insurance arm, a key source of financing to myriad industries, had the biggest increase in inflows of all its businesses. That helped boost the unit’s fee-related earnings by 25%, making it the best-performing segment by that measure."

From Pitchbook: Bottoming out: PE dealmaking in consumer sector poised for comeback Buyout activity in the consumer retail & services industry is staging a rebound in the wake of the Federal Reserve’s interest rate cut. The total PE deal count in that sector reached 461 in Q2 2024, marking a 31% YoY increase, according to our Launch Report: Consumer Retail & Services. The market, though, still grapples with some challenges. Financial buyers are hesitant to make acquisitions, citing elevated borrowing costs and unfavorable valuations. Non-premium assets pursuing exits are undergoing more rigorous scrutiny and extended diligence processes. https://lnkd.in/e5MX78wX

EBITDA calculation is one of the key activities which both sides of the table (buy-side and sell-side) will undertake while undergoing M&A transaction. EBITDA numbers are often adjusted to reflect the true picture of operating profit of the business by sell-side team. Quality of earnings is an important exercise which buy-side team undertakes. Mismatch of adjusted EBITDA (calculation by both sides) happens in nearly 20% of these types of transactions and one of the key reasons why transactions fail. Even slight mistrust in data is a very powerful deterrent for Buy-side (especially in cross-border transactions) during on-going M&A. Create an optimum environment for a profitable exit, prepare well :)

Citing steady high-single-digit growth in its local segment and a rebound in its previously sluggish national brand segment, OUT commented that it expects to "achieve the high-end" of its full-year earnings outlook provided earlier this year, which calls for FFO growth of 7.5%. OUT reported 7% comparable year-over-year growth in its local segment, while national brands recorded 3% growth, an improvement from flat growth in Q2. Outfront's transit segment - which was a substantial drag during the pandemic - also continued to recover in Q3, posting comparable revenue growth of 7.3%, outpacing its core billboard segment, which posted comparable revenue growth of 4.8%. third quarter Top categories in the third-quarter were Retail, Tech, Utilities, Telecom, Legal, and Political, while OUT noted weaknesses in Health, Medical, Alcohol, and Education.
