Today, IAB Europe has released its 18th annual AdEx Benchmark report and it seems that the digital advertising industry is in rude health. Despite challenging broader macroeconomic headwinds and an ongoing cost-of-living crisis, the headline that the European Digital Advertising Market Grew by 11% to a Market Value of €96.9bn demonstrates advertising’s ongoing resilience. Digging further into the numbers, it is clear that innovative new formats are driving this ongoing growth. CTV grew by 23.5% in 2023, to outperform non-social video, with growth particularly pronounced in Spain, Italy, the UK, Germany, and France. Audio also revealed itself to be one of the fastest-growing formats again this year, experiencing an increase of 23.1%. New audio data within the AdEx Benchmark this year indicates that podcasts were integral to driving total digital audio spend, growing by 32.5%.
