“I don’t need my colleagues to be impressed or proud of me.” What I need is for our communities to thrive—for the kids from the hood, the incarcerated youth, the families facing daily challenges from social determinants stacked against them. I need to use every ounce of knowledge I have to serve those who’ve never had access to high-quality education, families who’ve been in communities plagued by systemic inequities since day one. My mission isn’t about prestige; it’s about honoring the charge my ancestors gave me and uplifting those who need it most in a country driven by access and capitalism. This work is about the young person who dreams of something greater but doesn’t see a path. It’s for the families who’ve been held back by structures designed to keep them where they are. When I think of success, it’s not about titles or prestige—it’s about breaking down barriers, creating pathways, and showing these kids that their lives don’t have to be defined by where they started. This is my purpose, rooted in resilience, legacy, and the unwavering belief that every person deserves a chance. At The 15 White Coats, we’re dedicated to building a future where healthcare and opportunity reach everyone, especially those often left out. Join us in supporting this mission at www.15wc.org. #CommunityFirst #EquityInAction #BreakingBarriers #The15WhiteCoats #HealthcareForAll

Redemption is a journey I know well. It’s a constant struggle to see myself as more than my mistakes, to look beyond the hurt I’ve caused and the wrong choices I’ve made. But in the midst of it all, there’s one unchanging truth that I hold on to: with God, I have been chosen and redeemed, and nothing I do can change that. This deep belief in redemption as well as my owned lived experience is what drives me to support those returning to society after incarceration. It’s why I’m thrilled to invite you to Rock Your Redemption on September 28th, 2024—a powerful evening dedicated to hope, healing, and transformation for justice-impacted individuals and their allies. We’re bringing together incredible speakers who understand the importance of this journey: Hosted by me, Tyree Chwilinski, Justice Impacted Advocate and Creator and Host of the Returning Strong Podcast. - Romarilyn Ralston – Senior Director of the Justice Education Center for the Claremont Colleges, and a staunch advocate for women’s rights, racial justice, and prison reform. - Jose Osuna Reentry Expert and Community Organizer, with a history of leading impactful initiatives at the Anti-Recidivism Coalition. - Ashley McKay – Senior Program Associate of Housing and Partnerships for The Homecoming Project, with over 15 years of experience advocating for marginalized communities. - Pastor Gregory Sanders – President of the Long Beach Ministers Alliance, actively working on community violence prevention and reentry efforts. Together, we’ll explore the 5 pillars of reentry—Education, Housing, Employment, Community, and Well-Being—and discuss actionable solutions to support successful reintegration. Let’s come together to empower and uplift those on their redemption journey. Join us for Rock Your Redemption and be part of the change. #RockYourRedemption #Reentry #JusticeReform #CommunityBuilding

I have been trying to post more on LinkedIn and trying to work on how I post as well, language, vocabulary, with or without images or emojis. But the goal is the same, to become better so that I can better serve those who are reentering society after prison and to make life better for everyone. I become better by working with other like-minded people who are also working towards the goal of a better tomorrow for EVERYONE. Seeking New Connections & Partnerships As we work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive society, I am focused on forging new connections and partnerships that can help us better serve justice-impacted individuals reentering society after incarceration. The journey back to community life is often filled with challenges—access to employment, housing, education, and mental health support are just a few of the many hurdles that returning citizens face. It’s clear that no single organization can tackle these issues alone. Collaboration is key. I am eager to connect with professionals, organizations, and advocates who share a commitment to supporting successful reentry. Whether you’re involved in workforce development, social services, mental health, legal aid, or any other area that touches the lives of returning citizens, let’s explore how we can work together to make a real impact. Together, we can create pathways to opportunity, reduce recidivism, and contribute to safer, more vibrant communities. Please feel free to reach out if you’re interested in discussing potential collaborations or just want to share ideas on how we can collectively support those reentering society. #Reentry #SouthernMissouriReentry #CriminalJusticeReform #SocialImpact #Collaboration #JusticeReform #Partnerships

Success After Incarceration: One key to thriving after incarceration is recognizing our shared humanity. Let go of ego and pride, and understand that achieving success requires support. Here are six reasons why: 1. Support Networks: Emotional and practical help from positive networks makes all the difference. 2. Access to Resources: Programs offering job training, housing, and mental health services are crucial. 3. Accountability and Guidance: Mentors and support groups provide the motivation and direction needed to stay on track. 4. Within each of us is a profound strength, a boundless potential that Ralph Waldo Emerson elegantly captures in his words: "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." In the spirit of these words, we are proud to share our mission at the transitional living facility for men and women reentering society from incarceration. Our facility is more than just a place to stay; it's a community built on the pillars of sobriety, kindness, honesty, and personal spirituality. We provide a supportive environment that fosters personal growth, camaraderie, and successful reintegration into society. Our goal is to create a safe and empowering space for individuals to rebuild their lives, encouraging self-improvement, community engagement, and holistic well-being. We're dedicated to helping our residents achieve their dreams and reach long-term success and fulfillment, recognizing that the greatest journeys begin with a single step forward, guided by the light within. If you or a loved one is looking for a place to start anew after being released from incarceration, please don't hesitate to reach out. Call us at 602-957-1910 for more information. Unlocking Potential Through Community Involvement Reentry into society is a critical time for justice-involved individuals, often determining their future path—towards growth or recidivism. One of the most significant factors that can tip the scales towards a positive outcome is community involvement. When communities come together to support those returning from incarceration, they offer more than just a second chance. They provide the tools, networks, and encouragement needed to rebuild lives. Mentorship programs, job training, housing assistance, and emotional support are just a few ways we can contribute to reducing recidivism and fostering successful reentry. By investing in these individuals, we aren't just helping them—we're strengthening our communities, creating safer neighborhoods, and reducing the long-term costs of incarceration. Let's continue to support, uplift, and engage with those reentering society. Together, we can help unlock the potential within each person and build a more inclusive and resilient community. #CommunitySupport #Reentry #SocialImpact #SecondChances

🌟 Joining the Conversation: Second Chance Month 🌟 At my recent art exhibition held at the Colorado State Capitol, I had the opportunity to speak on "Second Chance Month" — a topic deeply personal to me. Why? I lived it and continue to live through it. I've dedicated myself to founding organizations aimed at supporting both incarcerated folks and those that are reentering society. All of this while I am STILL on parole. Yet, amidst the buzz of 'Second Chance Month', I find myself questioning its true impact. In my honest opinion, I think it is a joke, a ruse, a cheap token gesture. I am currently walking the difficult path of reintegration and inequitable redemption. I've witnessed firsthand the gaps in support and the barriers to successful transition faced by those returning to society. Merely designating a month for second chances does little to address the structural injustices and cultural biases that perpetuate cycles of incarceration. I urge the community, self proclaimed allies, policymakers and stakeholders to move beyond symbolic gestures. We need tangible reforms, comprehensive support systems, and a shift in systemic attitudes towards rehabilitation and redemption. Second Chance Month should not be a tokenistic nod to the idea of redemption; it should be a call to action for substantive change. Let's work together to create a system that truly offers second chances—not just for a month, but for every individual seeking to rebuild their lives after incarceration. Let's advocate for concrete policies, comprehensive support systems, and a shift in systemic attitudes towards rehabilitation and redemption. Together, we can ensure that every individual, regardless of their past, has the opportunity to thrive. #SecondChanceMonth #CriminalJusticeReform #Empowerment #Redemption #CutTheBullShit
