Support this initiative about the special needs postcode lottery I think the crisis in our schools goes well beyond party political rhetoric. The postcode lottery for resources that includes diagnosis has progressively worsened. I support this initiative which in reality requires a strategy rather than cheap soundbites #schools #specialneeds #sen #autism #learningdisabilities

Today is National Lottery Day - celebrate by NOT playing. Saving and investing instead will make you a winner in the long-term. Given that the chances of winning the lottery are about 243% LESS likely than being struck by lightning, relying on the lottery to fund your golden years seems ill-advised at best. More than 50 million US adults play at least $1,000 a year for life. Regular players – those who play every drawing, multiple times a week, every week of their adult lives – spend upwards of a few thousand dollars a year. That averages more than $100,000 across their lifetimes. And it’s not the people who can afford it who play the lottery. In fact, a 2018 Bankrate survey found that 28% of Americans making less than $30,000 a year played the lottery at least once a week. Rather than throwing money away at 300-to-one odds, we recommend that you avoid playing the lottery this National Lottery Day and start saving instead. People who save early and consistently can leverage the power of compounding interest to set themselves up for life. According to calculations by The Motley Fool, a person who saves just $100 a month in a mix of investments that yield a 7% annual return will have $240,000 after 40 years; and a person who saves $500 a month would have $1.2 million in the same time frame (The Ridiculous Retirement Solution Nearly 60% of Millennials Are Banking On | The Motley Fool). That may not compare with a Powerball Jackpot, but it’s far from small change. And this time, the odds are in your favor. #nationallotteryday #savetosucceed #NFEC #Moneymanagement #financialliteracy #financialeducation

Thinking about buying a lottery ticket? Consider this: you're 815 times more likely to stumble upon a four-leaf clover (1 in 10,000) than to hit the jackpot in Australia's Tattslotto (1 in 8,145,060)! Make a wiser choice with your money – it's smarter to #SkipTheLottery. https://lnkd.in/eKKKFz87 #LotteryOdds #BetterInvestments #ThinkTwice #SmartMoney #FinancialWisdom #CloverOverLottery

If You Didn’t Win the Lottery We always hear people immediately jump into what they would do IF they won the lottery. Perhaps a better question is what would you do if you DIDN’T win the lottery – could you answer that question as quickly as the first one? Dreaming about riches as remote as that may actually be for a lottery holder is nowhere near as productive as asking what your life could look like without. I get it, less money for sure, but even winning has its disadvantages – The Tragic Stories of Lotteries Unluckiest Winners. Dreaming about the possibilities can be a sure bet. https://lnkd.in/ebu6ZqfM

Bitachon thoughts and lottery tickets... People say that if you ask Hashem to win the lottery, you first need to buy a ticket. Not necessarily. Hashem can drop the winning ticket on the street right in front of you. Or give it to you in countless other ways. "What about hishtadlus? Don't you have to buy a ticket?" No. You have to do hishtadlus, but no one said that means buying a ticket. You can do hishtadlus in many other ways. Here's the real issue: The reason you won't win has nothing to do with buying a ticket. The reason you won't win is because you don't really believe Hashem will make you win. So He doesn't. Hashem tzilcha. (Tehillim, 121:5) Hashem is your shadow. Understand this well. It is the key to Bitachon. Questions? Ask away... And check out the link in the comments.

Did you play the slots or try your hand at roulette over the long Labor Day weekend? If you won anything, you should know that gambling winnings are taxable. This includes winnings from casinos, lotteries, sports betting sites, bingo and poker games. Casual (as opposed to professional) gamblers are required to report gambling winnings on their tax returns for the year they won money. The casino, charity or game sponsor may have withheld tax from your winnings and provided you with Form W-2G, “Certain gambling winnings,” which should be used when preparing your tax return. But to be clear, even if you don’t receive this form, you still must report your winnings to the IRS. Blog: https://bit.ly/3OyUsMZ #gambling #taxreturn #gamblingwinnings #IRS #taxtips
