All articles in Agronomy MDPI (ISSN: 2073-4395) Vol 14, Issue 8, are now freely available to access, read and download: https://brnw.ch/21wLYxg COVER STORY: The identification and preservation of alpine rye ecotypes in Valtellina (Italy) has been the object of a recent study by the Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. Fourteen rye accessions, including two commercial varieties, were analyzed through genetic, agronomic, and phytochemical methods. The findings revealed two distinct genetic lineages: P1 (lower valley) and P2 (upper valley). P2 accessions exhibited superior agronomic traits, while phytochemical analysis highlighted high-performing Valtellina landraces. This study emphasizes the importance of conserving these ecotypes for local agriculture and resilience against climate change. "Seeing is believing," right? 👀 🌱 BaselineRx is a program that utilizes soil color imagery, topography, and water flow accumulation in order to delineate similar soil types. The program was created to separate different management zones (~5/field on average) that are going to behave very similarly, either biologically, chemically, physically, or all of the above. Mason Claude, Agronomy Research Lead, has done his fair share of working with BaselineRx and pulling soil samples. He's also seen the accuracy and full-circle benefits of utilizing this tool and its data on an operation. 🔎Ready to see it for yourself?: https://lnkd.in/e9NfTgtf #Agronomy365 #BaselineRx #SmartFarming #AgTech #AgInnovation #PrecisionAgriculture #sustainablefarming #FarmManagementSoftware #DataDrivenAg #AgriTech #Agronomy #farmprofitability #soilsamples #soilzones

🗯️ Why do we think it's important to use BaselineRx to build a strong foundation for a successful fertility plan? Jason Schley, Lead Agronomist, is here to break it down for you. "What's unique about Agronomy 365's Baseline is the fact that we're looking at, you know, not just the chemistry of your soil, but we're also looking at the physical presence, the biological activity, and basically giving you an overall vision of what that soil's going to do and release within your field." -Jason Schley 🔎 👉 Ready to get invested in a deeper understanding of your soil? #Agronomy365 #BaslineRx #SmartFarming #AgTech #AgInnovation #PrecisionAgriculture #FarmManagementSoftware #DataDrivenAg #AgriTech #Agronomy #SoilFertility

I am thrilled to have successfully completed the short course on "Hands-on Training on Statistical Analysis and Exploring the Role of Agriculture in Industry Domains" organized by The Indian Society of Agronomy. The training, held from 22-31 August 2024, provided valuable insights into advanced statistical techniques and their applications in agriculture. A big thanks to the team at The Indian Society of Agronomy for organizing such a practical and informative program. I am excited to apply these new skills in my ongoing research and future projects! #Agronomy #StatisticalAnalysis #Agriculture #Research #ContinuousLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #Rprogram

Agronomists study how to cultivate the land and manage soil to grow crops most effectively. They research plant genetics, physiology, and how crops interact with the environment. Their goal is to create sustainable methods that increase crop yields while also protecting the environment. Here are some of the key areas of focus in agronomy: Soil science: This is the study of soil properties, fertility, and how to improve soil health. Crop production: This includes planting, fertilization, irrigation, weed control, and pest management. Plant breeding: This involves developing new crop varieties that are more resistant to disease, pests, and drought. Precision agriculture: This is the use of technology to improve the efficiency and sustainability of crop production. Agronomists play a vital role in ensuring a safe and abundant food supply for the world's growing population. Their research helps to develop new and improved crops, improve crop yields, and protect the environment. #Agronomy #Agronomists #CropScience #SoilScience #CropProduction #PlantBreeding #PrecisionAgriculture #SustainableFarming #AgTech #Farmers #FoodSecurity #Environment #CropResearch #Agribusiness #FarmingFuture
