Here’s why you won’t make it as a freelancer if you don’t become an offer owner: (Backed by proof) The biggest mistake I see with people joining the space, and surprisingly even those who have been in it for 25 years, is that they still sell themselves as "freelance XYZ" and offer the service of "generating more sales" or “crafting compelling words” or “writing your book”. To a certain extent, this is understandable since that is what you do as a freelancer. However, given today's saturated market, everyone is selling the same thing. If you’ve read Eugene Schwartz's book Breakthrough Advertising, you probably know the levels of market sophistication. Right now, most online skills are at a crossroads between levels 4 and 5, meaning you need new marketing strategies. Going back to the fundamentals, we need to make our offer better. How do we do that? We sell what THEY want, not what they NEED. What they need are words written. (in the example where you are a freelance writer) But what they want is more money, more freedom, or a specific outcome from those words. To differentiate yourself, focus on finding out what your ideal customers want and sell that as a promise. Use your freelancing skill as the mechanism to achieve that. It’s simple. If you focus on marketing and brand building, sales become infinitely easier because you eliminate most objections beforehand. I know mentors who have terrible closers (they literally suck) but make $600k/month because they have a good offer. Conversely, I know someone who started a business with an average offer and, despite being a great closer and salesman, closed the business in 3 months. This is the only proof I needed to validate my concept. I hope this post has given you something to think about as well. Go build your offer, and you will never have to say, “The market is in bad shape” again. It’s not. It’s just becoming more saturated. Kind regards, Rares @ FreelanceClients.com
