I'm working with 2 wonderful studios who are both looking for Midweight Hotel Designers to join their respective teams and work on incredibly exciting, prominent and creative projects based here in London as well as internationally too! 😎🌍 More specifically, I'm looking for midweights who have solid experience working on hotels and/or hospitality projects and who have a portfolio of work which showcases your all-rounder skills from concept to FF&E to technical. AutoCAD based and any Revit knowledge would be an added bonus! 🏨🛎🛌🏩 Interestingly, both these studios offer hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 at home so if you're looking for a better work/life balance....this may be exactly what you need. 🙌🥰🌟 Please reach out to me to find out more information and in the meantime....spread the word! 😉 Thanks very much! 🖤

Lately, I’ve been speaking with a lot of candidates looking to break into architecture and interior design practices.🏢🗝 As a former interior design graduate myself, I totally get how tough it can be to land that first role or gain some industry experience. It’s frustrating to hear “you need experience” when you’re fresh out of uni and applying to entry-level positions. Many students turn to showroom or kitchen design jobs during university, which can feel like the only option. But even then, transitioning into a junior role can still feel like an uphill battle. Here’s the thing: sometimes grads and junior designers are unknowingly making some mistakes in their approach. So, here are a few tips to help:⬇ 1️⃣ Stop applying to Midweight and senior roles. If the role asks for 3-5 years of experience, and your experience is mostly showroom or kitchen-based, it’s just not a fit. Stick to entry-level, graduate, or junior roles where your skills align.🙅♀️ 2️⃣ Be realistic with niche roles. Applying for Revit technician or 3D visualizer positions without solid knowledge of the software won’t help. Focus on roles that match what you do know.💁♀️ 3️⃣ Create a targeted company list. Make a shortlist of firms you genuinely want to work for—ones that are within a commutable distance (ideally under 1 hour). It saves time for both you and potential employers.⌚⏳ 4️⃣ Match your portfolio to the role. Loved working on residential projects during uni? Showcase those in applications for residential firms. If hospitality or transportation design isn’t your thing (or isn’t reflected in your portfolio), applying to those roles probably won’t get far.🏃♀️ 5️⃣ Be strategic about multidisciplinary firms. If you’re open to them, research their projects and highlight relevant experience in your application.💡 Breaking into the industry is challenging, but with a focused and realistic approach, you’ll improve your chances and hopefully land that first role faster! 🚀 With that in mind, we’re currently recruiting for a residential based, Design Assistant role in the Surrey area! If you’re interested, feel free to drop me a message or send your CV and portfolio to: 📧 ishitha.kashim@linearrecruitment.co.uk

Seeking Entry/Junior Level Opportunities in Interior Design Why don’t we see more entry-level roles being posted for everyone to apply? For months, I’ve been searching for my next step in interior design, but every application feels like sending a message into the void. What happened to the days when you could email your CV directly to a company and hear back from a real person? Why do we rely so heavily on online systems and AI to filter candidates, instead of engaging with each individual? I graduated two years ago, and while I’ve gained some experience, I’m not yet at midweight or senior designer level. Shouldn’t my years of study count for something? It sometimes feels like university is no longer a stepping stone to a career but just another checkbox. Interior design is my passion. Working on 2D/3D drawings in CAD and SketchUp is more than just a task for me—it’s therapeutic. Completing a project feels like an achievement. And if I don’t know a software? You can bet I’ll dive in with enthusiasm and learn it quickly. I’m eager to join a company in Scotland, even in a part-time or entry-level role, to grow and build a career from the ground up. I want to develop alongside a team, learn from experienced colleagues, and contribute to meaningful projects. Think back to when architecture and design were done entirely by hand—companies adapted, taught their teams new skills, and grew together. I want the same opportunity to grow with a company, to learn, and to prove my worth. If your team is looking for someone passionate, hardworking, and ready to embrace every challenge, I’d love to connect. Let’s build something great together!
