📣 Featured Speaker: Shashi Bandara with City of Port Moody will be co-presenting on "Using Cured-in-Place Pipe Technologies to Replace Sewers in Environmentally Sensitive Areast" during the 2024 Pipeline Rehabilitation Academy in Vancouver. 📆 March 13-14, 2024 📍 Fairmont Hotel Vancouver 📝 Register Now: https://loom.ly/b47CCQo The City of Port Moody required the rehabilitation of 1.5 km of parallel sanitary sewers located in the environmentally sensitive Shoreline Trail Park at the east end of the Burrard inlet between Old Orchard Park and Murray Street. The two sewers run through the park below a paved multiuse pathway and through sections of forested land. Within the alignment the sewers cross 5 named watercourses, two of which are salmon bearing, and through a Great Blue Heron rookery situated above a wetland. The north shore of the inlet is also a known archaeologically significant village site. This presentation will discuss the decision-making process that led to the selection of CIPP as the preferred rehabilitation method. We will also cover challenges and lessons learned through the successful construction of the project using both steam cured inverted felt CIPP for the 400 mm gravity sewer and UV cured pull in place CIPP for the 600 mm pressure sewer. #PipelineRehabilitation #ConditionAssessment #AssetManagement #Infrastructure #Pipelines #Sewer #Water #CIPP #Engineering #Education #CEUs #PipelineMaintenance #Networking #CUIIC #Vancouver #BritishColumbia #PortMoody #Trenchless #TrenchlessTechnology #EnvironmentallySensitive

At what depth should the foundation be laid? The answer can be found in a geotechnical report that assesses soil-bearing capacities at different depths and recommends which foundation type should be required. For instance, in our case, the geotechnical report indicated that at a depth of 1m, the soil-bearing capacity was 110 kN/m^2. Based on our estimations from last week, we anticipate that a 150 cubic meter tank will exert a pressure of approximately 55 to 70 kN/m^2 on the soil. In other words, according to the geotechnical report, a depth of around 0.9 - 1m should be sufficient for our tank. Image: Excavation for the foundation of a 150 cubic meter tank that we are preparing to construct! Excavation diameter = 9.6m, Foundation type: Raft foundation. Utilizing hydraulic pressure and percussion, these drills drive hollow sampling rods into the ground without the need for traditional methods like augering. This technique enables quick and efficient collection of soil, groundwater, and vapor samples, particularly in softer materials such as sand, silt, or clay. Frequently used in environmental site assessments, geotechnical investigations, and contamination studies, Direct Push technology minimizes soil disturbance, reduces drilling waste, and provides real-time data on subsurface conditions. Its versatility and cost-effectiveness allow for adaptation with various probes and sensors to assess soil properties, contaminant levels, and groundwater conditions. *𝗕𝘆 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲: Track Mounted, Dollie Mounted, Portable *𝗕𝘆 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Environmental Monitoring, Engineering Construction, Archaeological Survey, Others *𝗕𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻: North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, Middle East & Africa *𝗕𝘆 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀: TECOPSA, Geoprobe Systems®, Comacchio SpA #DirectPushTechnology #SoilSamplingDrills #EnvironmentalInvestigations #HydraulicSoilSampling #GroundwaterSampling #VaporSampling #SubsurfaceInvestigations #ContaminationStudies #GeotechnicalInvestigations #PercussionDrilling #SoilSamplingEquipment #UnconsolidatedSoils #RealTimeDataSampling #EfficientSoilSampling #SoilAnalysis #MinimizedSoilDisturbance #EnvironmentalSiteAssessments #CostEffectiveDrilling #GroundwaterMonitoring #ContaminantLevelAssessment

At AC&P inženirski biro d.o.o. , we thrive on solving engineering challenges no matter their nature. One of our current projects at the Hydropower plants Podselo - which is operated by SENG - is a prime example of our adaptability and willingness to overcome any given challenge, regardless of the scope. Our goal is to ensure the HPP’s structural integrity and safety. To achieve that objective we are replacing the old and implementing a new and comprehensive monitoring system. The HPP Podselo project required us to conduct precise geotechnical works in areas with extremely limited access. For instance, utilising traditional drilling rigs wasn’t feasible due to the confined underground shafts and tunnels, yet a drilling solution was required. 💡 Our team came up with several innovative solutions, such as using a compact manually operated drilling rig, which can be easily transported at even the least accessible areas. This allowed us to successfully perform essential drilling operations without the need for bulky equipment. Along with our partners Helitech, druga specializirana gradbena dela, d.o.o. , we're using a range of advanced approaches in geotechnical construction and monitoring. We'll dive into the specifics of these techniques and challenges we overcame in future posts. 📽️ Check out our video of the project location and its 3D model showing the entire construction. #GeotechnicalEngineering #Innovation #EngineeringSolutions #PodseloDam #AC&P #Infrastructure #hydrotechnics #drilling
