Australian growers, like their UK counterparts, find themselves at the mercy of large retailers who dictate prices, leaving little room for fair compensation for their hard work and dedication to producing quality produce. The parallels between the situations faced by farmers in the UK and Australia are striking. Both groups are confronted with the reality of an agricultural industry where profit margins are slim, and the cost of production continues to rise. Moreover, the consolidation of power among major retailers further marginalizes farmers, forcing them to navigate a landscape where survival hinges on meeting stringent demands set by corporate entities. In response to these challenges, it is essential for consumers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to recognize the shared struggles of farmers worldwide and stand in solidarity with them. The House of Representatives recently introduced the Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation that provides tax incentives to accelerate the deployment of innovative farming technologies for U.S. specialty crop producers. Recent economic disruptions, along with the rise of extreme weather events, has put tremendous pressure on the domestic fresh food supply chain. The Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act aims to address these issues by encouraging the adoption of new digital solutions that could bolster food production, such as precision agriculture and controlled environment agriculture technologies. #AgriTech #Innovation #USLaw
