It's time to start recognizing lifeguarding as a year round job instead of a seasonal one! For the last 20 years, there has been a decrease in the availability of lifeguards. We need to move away from the idea that lifeguarding is just a job to hold until something better comes along. #Lifeguards #SwimmingSafety #YearRoundJob #getmunch

🩻 I’ve added a new section to this page on ‘unsafe entries’ into commercial pools. Unsafe entries into pools are thankfully much rarer than they were 20 years ago thanks to improved awareness, signage, and lifeguard early interventions. However, unsafe entries into pools still occur and they often have life changing consequences for those involved. Some survive their accidents and begin a long journey of recovery back to health and happiness. Others sadly lose their lives. Awareness only lasts a generation. It is vital we teach the next generation of pool users the dangers of unsafe entries and lifeguards how to spot unsafe entries before they occur and the importance of prompt intervention. Pool managers also play a role in maintaining good water quality, removing submerged hazards, and installing good quality signage. Talk to your lifeguards and managers about when you last conducted a signage audit and how to intervene effectively. It’s not only diving and jumping, falling into the pool can result in serious injury too.

Lifeguarding can be approached from two distinct philosophies: proactive and reactive. Proactive lifeguarding prioritizes prevention and attentiveness, with lifeguards constantly monitoring guests through diligent surveillance and vigilant patrols. Conversely, reactive lifeguarding focuses on responding to incidents as they occur, relying on lifeguards' expertise in rescues and first aid. While reactive strategies are crucial for saving lives, a proactive method fosters a safer swimming environment by reducing the likelihood of incidents. Integrating both approaches not only enhances safety but also improves guest satisfaction and peace of mind. At Sun Siyam Iru Veli, we employ a blend of these techniques, with a particular emphasis on proactive lifeguarding. At Sun Siyam Iru Veli, we don't just guard the shore; we cultivate a culture of care, where prevention meets preparedness, ensuring every splash is a joyful one. "True lifeguarding is not just about saving lives; it’s about creating a sanctuary of safety through vigilance and preparedness, where anticipation meets action." - Jambey. #SunSiyamIruVeli #Maldives #BeachSafety #GuestSafety #ResortLife #LuxuryTravel #Travelgram #TravelInspiration #TravelTheWorld #OceanSafety #WaterSafety #Lifeguard #EmergencyPreparedness #GuestExperience #PeaceOfMind #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #StrongerTogether #CultureOfCare #EmployeeAppreciation #DrowningPrevention #IruVeliLifeguards

Our “PROUD TO BE A LIFEGUARD” campaign highlights the critical aspects it takes to be a lifeguard, starting with Preventative Actions. Lifeguards conduct Preventative Actions to stop potentially dangerous behaviors that may result in an accident or emergency. These can be actions such as: –Identifying and moving patrons away from Rip Currents or dangerous areas –Stopping patrons from diving into shallow water –Redirecting patrons to shallow or calmer water –Discouraging patrons from roughhousing or participating in boisterous play According to USLA’s annual statistical data, lifeguards in the US perform over nine million Preventive Actions in a typical year. This is critical work that makes the beach and its users safer. When a lifeguard is making effective preventative actions, they are mitigating risk and stopping rescues before they may happen. Share this message, and drop a comment below with the top reason why you’re PROUD TO BE A LIFEGUARD. 🆕 Post: This week we’re discussing the European technical standard EN 15288, which regulates safety in the design and operation of public swimming pools 👉https://lnkd.in/dUiV4gJV It is common for professionals responsible for managing public pools in hotels, campgrounds, water parks or municipal pools to be well-versed in the hygiene, sanitation, and lifeguard requirements established by national and regional legislations. However, when it comes to the design and operation of these facilities, doubts or confusion often arise. The EN 15288 standard specifically covers these key aspects, providing a comprehensive framework to ensure safety in public pools. This regulation is divided into two parts: ➡ Safety in Design: It addresses elements such as capacity control, the implementation of non-slip areas in wet zones, and design strategies that minimize risks of falls and entrapments. ➡ Operational Requirements: It includes the creation of protocols for hazard identification, emergency procedures, and visible signage to ensure safety at all times. If you would like more information or need to conduct an audit or safety certification for your swimming pool, feel free to contact us at hola@thefunlab.es 👉 https://lnkd.in/dUiV4gJV #thefunlab #pools #safefun #safety

Lifeguard equipment plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of all swimmers in commercial pools.🏊♂️🐬 🌟Essential rescue tools, including rescue tubes, lifebuoys, backboards, and shepherd's crooks, are designed to assist lifeguards in emergencies effectively. These tools help facilitate quick and safe rescues, minimizing risks during critical situations.🌊 Furthermore, medical supplies like first aid kits, emergency oxygen tanks, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are indispensable for immediate responses to health crises. Proper training and maintenance of this gear not only enhance lifeguard readiness but also ensure a safer environment for everyone enjoying the pool facilities.💦 Regular checks of these supplies can significantly improve response times during emergencies while instilling confidence in patrons when they know comprehensive safety measures are in place.💪 Investing in quality equipment is a commitment to promoting health and safety standards at recreational facilities.🤝🏊🏻♂️ #SwimmingTeacher #SwimmingCoaches #SwimmingIsLife #SwimCoachLife #PoolsidePerks #MakingASplash #ChlorineChronicles #CoachingComedy #STA #STAfamily #InternationalTrainingCentre #PoolAcademyTrainingUK #WaterSafety #SwimInstructorLife #StudentDevelopment #SwimInstructor #ButterflyBeats #FreestyleFun #BackstrokeBanter #BreaststrokeBesties #OpenWaterSwimming #CoachingSkills #OutdoorTraining #AthleteDevelopment #PersonalDevelopment #AquaticCareer #PoolLifeguard #LifeguardEquipment
