In 2023, an alarming rise in the numbers of the two most prevalent bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) - 𝘎𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘢𝘦 and 𝘊𝘩𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘺𝘥𝘪𝘢 – was detected. 𝘎𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘩𝘰𝘦𝘢𝘦 cases increased by 48%, and 𝘊𝘩𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘺𝘥𝘪𝘢 by 16% between 2022 and 2023.   The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) emphasizes the importance of testing and recommends that EU/EEA countries have a national strategy for the control of STIs. Accessible, decentralized diagnostic and laboratory services are crucial. Herpes Simplex Virus infection on the breast ( until the lesions are cleared ) 4. Breast abscess or cellulitis (with direct contact with infant's mouth can continue on other side ). 5. New JOURNAL article 📑 Peer support for people living with hepatitis B virus—A foundation for treatment expansion [Journal of Viral Hepatitis] 🔊Delivery of education, diagnostics and follow up for people living with HBV infection needs to be person-centric, flexible and operate beyond standard clinical structures to ensure interventions are accessible and acceptable to individuals and populations most at risk. Scaling up this access will be fundamental to delivering interventions recommended by new 🌍WHO guidelines published in 2024.
