#India is on the cusp of a #healthcare transformation, as experts call for an urgent overhaul of the country’s palliative #care system. With the incidence of cancer rising and an ageing #population, there is a pressing need to prioritise and restructure palliative care to enhance the quality of life for patients #grappling with severe illnesses at any stage. Palliative care remains grossly #underutilised and misunderstood in India. Statistics reveal that only 5 to 10 percent of those in need have access to these critical services. #Public perception often confines palliative care to terminal care, overshadowing its broader benefits across all stages of illness. This misconception limits the early integration of palliative care, which can significantly improve patient outcomes, #particularly in cancer treatment. Several barriers hinder the widespread adoption of palliative care in India. The most significant is a severe shortage of trained healthcare professionals and a lack of #educational programs in #medical institutions. Additionally, the absence of a cohesive national policy on palliative care #marginalises it within the broader #healthcare policy framework, making its integration into existing medical services #sporadic at best. Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach. Education and awareness programs are essential to #demystify palliative care for both the public and healthcare providers, highlighting its benefits beyond crisis management. Integrating palliative care #training into the medical curriculum is crucial for equipping future #healthcare providers with the necessary skills and knowledge. Policy reforms are also vital. #Developing a national palliative care policy could standardise care procedures and earmark funds specifically for palliative services. Such initiatives would foster the establishment of palliative care units across major #hospitals and #extend their reach into rural areas, ensuring accessibility and consistency in care quality. Technology can play a transformative role in extending the reach of palliative care. Telemedicine, for instance, can bridge the gap between remote areas and centralised healthcare services #available in urban centres. Mobile health applications could support continuous monitoring and management of symptoms, making palliative care more #proactive and patient-centric. The integration of effective palliative care services into India’s healthcare system is essential. As the country continues to grapple with a rising cancer burden and an ageing population, it is imperative to foster a better understanding of palliative care, enhance #professional training, implement supportive policies, and leverage technological advancements. https://lnkd.in/gRwN_Y3Z #News #Medlr #Healthnews #Health #Healthcare

#HealthacareServices #HealthcareProducts #ConflictOfInterest #BusinessVentures #LackOfMarketingCodeOfConduct #DGHS Reading this post and picked up these amusing statements . - The advertisement was released, not as a medical professional but as a corporate entity, which we are permitted to do. - Diabetes-friendly flour Regarding the diabetes-friendly flour which they launched and its advertisement along with the diabetes test offer, Dr Sane said, “We launched it late last year and aimed to inform people about its benefits, that’s all.” - We need a holistic approach towards managing lifestyle diseases and such allegations by competitors are only an attempt to malign our image. My Musings : This is what happens when services and products from same orgns, same groups are connected and operate in regulated sectors where Code of Conduct is in place. Conflict of Interest is something healthacre Businesses need to undertand Increasingly finding this CoI getting widened in Hcare where hcare service ventures are entering into hcare products space or vice versa. Same promoters , promoter groups, common interest - sell product or service or technology to same customer base - patient base in Hcare. Businesses and business models getting into compromises , ultimately compromising on patient care . Argument of the medical centre cited in the post is that they can do what they want as Code of Conduct is not applicable for Clinical Establishments is an age old argument. Blame the NMC which keeps maintaining silence on this. No one knows what is DGHS doing. When a minimal marketing code of conduct is written (atleast on paper) for healthcare products (pharma and med devices), why is it that services is left out. Maximum malpracices are reported in Hcare services . Govts can't enforce regulations, can't standardise prices, can't enforce advt, mktg code of conduct - all affecting patients, communities in many ways. Lab Diagnostics is a very basic and esstential need of a common man and they are exposed to these promos. Communities should start asking questions, seeking explanations from Govts, regulators, insurers etc. https://lnkd.in/gjQ9ptjf

!!!!Common trends in healthcare!!! Doctors opening their own Pharmacy [medical store] and testing centers in their premises. There is a serious symbiosis going on as why doctor should be worried of minting money from Pharmacy or testing center? They are been paid up for services provided. Now question arises!! 1.Does prescription have required drugs or additional drugs are noted on it to push profitability. Same is with biological tests? 2. Opening pharmacy or test center is only to give services to patients? Drugs are prescribed by brand name not salt? Why third party test centers? They are prescribing drugs and creating its resistance in patients body. It is as simple as playing with human body. Antibotics is turning symbotic. P.s. All doctors are not same. #Healthcare #Doctors

Excited to announce the successful publication of our research project and also our 'final year project'in the Indian Journal of Pharmacy Practice (IJOPP). Our study, titled "Assessment of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice among Community Pharmacists on Non-Prescription Drugs in Tamil Nadu", explores the critical role of community pharmacists in patient care and medication counseling. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible guides, Dr. Guru Prasad Mohanta and Dr. Vishnu T, from C L Baid Metha College of Pharmacy, for their invaluable guidance and support throughout this journey. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without their mentorship and encouragement! This research study focuses on the crucial role of community pharmacists in promoting safe medication practices. Conducted as a cross-sectional study, it evaluated the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of community pharmacists regarding non-prescription or over-the-counter drugs. Findings highlighted a moderate level of awareness among pharmacists and emphasized the need for enhanced training in patient counseling and medication management. This study aims to contribute to safer self-medication practices and support the vital role of pharmacists in community health. #ResearchPublication #PharmacyPractice #HealthAwareness #TamilNadu #CommunityPharmacists #NonPrescriptionDrugs #HealthcareResearch #PharmacyInnovation #IndianJournal #Grateful
