Today is National Rural Health Day! Rural communities are an essential part of our nation, yet they often face unique challenges in accessing healthcare. As someone dedicated to providing gender-affirming healthcare through my work with DAP Health, I’ve seen firsthand how vital these services are for people living in rural Southern California. 16% of transgender individuals live in rural areas, often facing significant barriers to accessing affirming care. These challenges make it even more critical to meet people where they are—geographically, emotionally, and culturally. Advancing health in rural communities also means embracing inclusivity, ensuring that transgender and nonbinary individuals are supported and cared for in their health journeys. By breaking down barriers and creating affirming spaces, we can build a healthier, more equitable future for all. On this National Rural Health Day, I celebrate the resilience of rural communities and remain committed to working toward justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in healthcare. Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind. #NationalRuralHealthDay #RuralHealth #TransHealthcare #MaternalHealth #ProfessionalEnbys #Themfessional #NonbinaryLeaders #BeyondTheBinary #EnbyHealthcareProfessionals #JEDIinHealthcare #EquityInAction

Have you ever wondered what research would be like if the studies were designed by the people typically being researched? Too often, research to understand and solve healthcare inequities leaves out the people directly experiencing these issues. Design Impact has been supporting the RWJF Community Research for Health Equity program, a grant program managed by AcademyHealth, to advance community-led research. Watch this video to see how grantees are transforming their local healthcare systems. #healthequity #communityledresearch #communityresearch

🌍💡 The recent Parliamentary report on women’s health inequalities was a difficult read. We have to do more to ensure women’s voices are not just heard, but acted on, and the healthcare industry has a role to play in driving this change. We need to.... 💬 Raise awareness with campaigns that help break the stigma around conditions like endometriosis and PCOS - aimed at both healthcare professionals and the general public. 🔬 Invest in equity to ensure research and funding prioritise diverse communities to close racial and regional health gaps. 🛡️ Focus on prevention by promoting early screening and accurate diagnoses for conditions often overlooked. 🤝 Create partnerships by listening to and learning from advocacy groups and community leaders to ensure lived experiences shape meaningful, inclusive solutions. This report is a wake-up call but also a roadmap for action. At Lexington, we’re passionate about making change happen. From securing universal preeclampsia testing in Scotland to exposing gender gaps in heart failure misdiagnosis, we’re committed to shaping a better future for women. #WomensHealth #HealthEquality #Collaboration #Advocacy #PolicyChange
