At Medicover, we strive to keep learning - and having great experts in our teams means we can learn from each other! 🙌 Over the summer Synevo Poland organised Synevo Summer Academy - an internal initiative, where in-house experts volunteered their time and knowledge to teach their colleagues. Topics covered ranged from business topics, such as time management, project management, transactional analysis, and product knowledge, to various medical topics, including genetics, molecular biology, and general diagnostics. 🗣️ “The Synevo Summer Academy is a unique project for several reasons. First of all, it has the spirit of a learning organisation, where team members with different professional experiences, competencies, and roles help others acquire new skills or find inspiration for further development in a given area. Moreover, the Summer Academy would not have been established without good, friendly relations and a willingness to cooperate. Teamwork is one of our core values, and I believe the Summer Academy project truly embodies this value,” said Szymon Demmer, HR Director at Synevo Poland. 👉 Using internal experts as trainers offers many advantages - a deep understanding of the company's culture, values, and strategic goals, as well as authenticity and practical experience, with real-life examples and case studies that are directly relevant to Synevo Poland. 📊 During the Summer Academy program, a total of 22 topics were covered, including 12 medical and 10 non-medical subjects within over 44 hours of training. Fourteen internal experts (5 medical and 9 non-medical) led these sessions, engaging 541 participants, with 331 attending medical training sessions and 210 participating in non-medical courses. Isn't it inspiring? 🥳 #synevopoland #lifelonglearning

🏆 How I used #deliberatepractice to win both the #Intermediate and #Advanced Categories of a regional #microsurgery competition, when I was a FIRST-YEAR TRAINEE, beating Senior trainees (near their end-of-training) and Fellows: 🔍 Breaking Down Task: Divide a complex technical task into smaller, manageable steps to address and meticulously tackle each part effectively. 📖 Use simulation training models, eg a #supermicrosurgery training model published by our group- Khajuria et al. (PMID: 36262680) 🎥 Record/Photograph Sessions: Record every practice session to review and analyze your technique step-by-step for continuous improvement. ⏱️ Time Everything: After comfortable with the task, meticulously time each step to enhance #precision and #efficiency. 📝 Review & Refine: Continuously refine your approach based on feedback and self-analysis. This structured approach allowed me to excel and win both categories as a first-year trainee, surprising my colleagues and seniors. Deliberate practice truly is a #gamechanger 🔧 Practical Tips: 🚀 Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve with each practice session. 🚀 Stay Consistent: Practice regularly and maintain a disciplined schedule. 🚀 Seek Feedback: Regularly consult with mentors or peers to gain constructive feedback. 🚀 Be Patient: Progress takes time; stay patient and persistent. How have you used #deliberatepractice before? 👇 #Microsurgery #DeliberatePractice #MedicalTraining #ContinuousImprovement #PracticalTips #linkedin #tuesdaythoughts

Is AI breaking the apprenticeship model in medicine/ consulting etc? And what can we do about it? One of the promises of AI is to automate more routine tasks - the tasks usually carried out by junior staff to collect and build experience. The expectation (and in fields like consulting already the reality) is that this will lead to less demand for junior roles, and more for senior ones, i.e. people with deep domain expertise and significant experience in handling clients. But where will those experienced people come from if you’re eliminating the entry roles? Consulting (like medicine) is largely based on an apprenticeship model, but this model breaks down when you’re eliminating the lower rungs of the ladder. So what to do about this? There are different potential approaches: 1️⃣ One could be to tighten the pipeline. As we know, currently, it is (in consulting by design, in medicine by circumstances) extremely leaky. In consulting, around one in 10 juniors starting at a firm are expected to make it to partner and in medicine, estimates are that 1 in 5 medical students will not end up practicing medicine. I expect automation to reduce, but not fully eliminate the need for juniors. But this would require the firms to ensure that more juniors stay on - through better hiring criteria (the smartest high school students do not make the best doctors), better work-life balance, and in general improving the attractiveness as a long-term career 2️⃣ Another approach could be external hiring – but that is very hard in consulting and next to impossible in medicine (after all, med school doesn't take forever for nothing). Unless, we start to think about new job profiles that are narrowly specialized and complement the traditional generalist. What do you think? How to build expertise without (or with less) entry-level roles? (Image by DALL-E 3)

**Reflecting on My Fellowship Journey as I Approach Year ✌🏾** As I come closer to beginning my second year of my fellowship in clinical development, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey so far. This past year has been a whirlwind of learning, growth, and invaluable experiences that have profoundly shaped my professional and personal development. Key Highlights and Learnings from Year One: 1. Immersive Learning Experience: Gaining hands-on experience with 3 different studies, developing a variety of study materials, leading the development of a pharmacy manual, supporting study startup initiatives, analyzing clinical data and developing my business acumen has been both challenging and rewarding. Each project has provided me with deeper insights into the complexities of drug development. 2. Mentorship and Collaboration: From the time I arrived in California, I have been fortunate to work alongside and learn from some of the brightest minds in the pharmaceutical industry. The mentorship and collaborative spirit of the Neurotoxins team have been instrumental in my growth. 3. Continuous Learning: The dynamic nature of clinical development requires constant learning and flexibility/adaptation, keeping me engaged and motivated to stay ahead. As I look forward to the second year of my fellowship, I am excited to continue building on these experiences, embracing new challenges, and contributing to innovative projects. I am deeply grateful for the support and guidance of my mentor Lynn James and her team of scientific & medical directors (Alexandra Traut , Katelin Patterson, Dhira Khosla & Thu Nguyen). 🥂 Here’s to another year of growth, learning, and making a meaningful impact in clinical development! #Fellowship #ClinicalDevelopment #PharmaceuticalIndustry #ProfessionalGrowth #YearOne

Officially done with my internship! Whoop whoop 🎉 Congrats to me! It's been one full year of so many lessons. That first year of practice maaaaaan! Looking back on this time last year, I was scared to draw blood😂 But little by little, you learn every day. From siting a line, To passing a urethral catheter, To passing a feeding tube, To assisting in routine surgeries, To consulting in clinics, To assisting in bringing a new life into the world or certifying the end of one, To learning how to counsel patients and relatives, To using healthcare management systems, To presenting a paper before the Paediatric Association of Nigeria, And last but not least, building a brand on @LinkedIn! What a year!!! As a freshly minted medical officer, I will now receive my full registration and permanent license to practice medicine. A wild thought to even say out loud. Whaaaaaaat! But hey fam, I'll let you in on some scoops I must let out of my chest. 😍 What I liked most: meeting new people who are now my close friends, and the hands-on practice of medicine I learned in theory. 😤 What I liked least: Listen! Those super long hours without defined roasters and enduring toxic bosses who just made me want to finish my shift and get out! Maann... The next step is looking for areas I'd love to specialize! P.S. Where do you think I'm going to specialize? P.P.S: Which aspect of medicine do you find fascinating?
