According to WHO, every year, 16 billion injections are administered globally, but not all needles and syringes are safely disposed of. This leads to significant risks, including injury, infection, and unsafe practices. In 2010 alone, unsafe injections caused: - 33,800 new HIV infections - 1.7 million hepatitis B infections - 315,000 hepatitis C infections Embracing needle-free injection systems can help reduce these dangers and promote safer, more sustainable healthcare practices. Learn more about the challenges and solutions in health care waste management. Hey connections ! Here i am happy to share my article "diarrhoea" #snsinstutions #snsdesignthinking #snsdesignthinker #diarrhoea Diarrhoeal disease is the third leading cause of death in children under 5 years old and is responsible for killing around 443 832 children every year. Diarrhoea can last several days and can leave the body without the water and salts that are necessary for survival. In the past, for most people, severe dehydration and fluid loss were the main causes of diarrhoea-associated deaths. Now, other causes such as septic bacterial infections are likely to account for an increasing proportion of all diarrhoea-associated deaths. Children who are malnourished or have impaired immunity, as well as people living with HIV, are most at risk of life-threatening diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is defined as the passage of 3 or more loose or liquid stools per day (or more frequent passage than is normal for the individual). Frequent passing of formed stools is not diarrhoea, nor is the passing of loose, pasty stools by breastfed babies. Diarrhoea is usually a symptom of an infection in the intestinal tract, which can be caused by a variety of bacterial, viral and parasitic organisms. Infection is spread through contaminated food or drinking-water, or from person-to-person as a result of poor hygiene. Interventions to prevent diarrhoea, including safe drinking-water, use of improved sanitation and hand washing with soap, can reduce disease risk. Diarrhoea should be treated with oral rehydration solution (ORS), a solution of clean water, sugar and salt. In addition, a 10–14 day supplemental treatment course of dispersible zinc tablets shortens diarrhoea duration and improves outcomes.

🌍 With World Health Day recently behind us, it's an opportune moment to pause and reflect on the ongoing challenges faced by immunocompromised individuals, particularly concerning secondary infections that pose significant health risks. Pulmonary infections, such as aspergillosis caused by aspergillus, are among the most prevalent issues for those with compromised immune systems, including individuals living with HIV. Additionally, immunocompromised individuals also confront unique struggles due to their vulnerability to fungal infections like COVID-19-associated mucormycosis (CAM). These infections can lead to severe health complications if not promptly diagnosed and treated. By raising awareness and ensuring access to accurate diagnosis and treatment, we can make a significant impact in improving outcomes for these patients. We recognize the importance of advancing fungal infection diagnosis and resistance testing to better support aspergillosis and CAM patients and others with compromised immune systems. Through ongoing research and collaboration, we aim to equip healthcare professionals with the necessary tools to effectively manage these complex infections. Under the World Health Day theme "My health, my right," let's commit to prioritizing the needs of immunocompromised individuals and spreading awareness about the significance of early detection and treatment of fungal infections like aspergillosis and CAM. Together, we can make a difference in safeguarding the health and well-being of those who need it most. 🧫🩺 #WorldHealthDay #Immunocompromised #CAM #FungalInfections #HealthcareSupport
