Early and effective treatment of stroke with thrombolytic therapy has traditionally brought with it the double edged sword of increased risk of bleeding. Currently acute clot retrieval services work really well in metropolitan areas in major cities but this important treatment is not readily available in smaller cities, rural and remote areas of Australia and the rest of the world. This wonderful discovery by Professor Shaun Jackson, AProfessor Simone Schoenwaelder and their research group at the Heart Research Institute (HRI) and the University of Sydney is being commercialized by ThromBio Holdings and CEO Peter Bush. These early human studies are opening a window into a future in which this disease which maims more than it kills becomes less of a scourge than it currently is. In acute coronary disease thrombolytic drugs were the foundation for a step-change improvement in outcomes for ‘Heart Attack’ but we still had the stroke risk to balance against the benefits. The remarkable finding here is that the clot buster function is potent but there is effectively a ceiling or brake on bleeding risk- novel science translating to novel therapy. This treatment if supported by these early trials would also help improve health equity for patients who do not live close to a stroke service. Peter Tan presented Syntara's data at ASH 2024 on our multicenter, open-label Phase 1/2a study of SNT-5505 in combination with ruxolitinib for treating myelofibrosis. The oral presentation (#1001) highlighted positive interim results, including significant improvements in symptoms and spleen volume over time, and reaffirmed the safety profile of SNT-5505. Successful completion of EIC Accelerator project We are proud recipients of the prestigious EIC (European Innovation Council) Accelerator Grant, awarded in 2020 to support the development of IscAlert™. Being part of this esteemed program within the European innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem has been truly rewarding. Throughout this project, significant deliverables have been achieved. Our clinical studies have demonstrated IscAlert's efficacy as a safe and dependable monitor for ischemia, providing continuous and real-time measurements. The process for obtaining CE marking approval as a Class IIa medical device for IscAlert is underway with a Notified Body, and the audit process is progressing as planned. Furthermore, numerous clinical studies were initiated in 2023, with additional approvals secured for projects planned to start in 2024. Our efforts have encompassed diverse areas including clinical trials, regulatory compliance, product development and optimization, and scaling up production processes.
