Yesterday I attended a Cape Endo Study Group at the Enamel Clinic. The topic of the evening was 'Endodontic Retreatments: When, Why and How'. The evening was sponsored by Dentsply Sirona. An interesting statistic that I learned was regarding the accuracy of various radiograph techniques to identitfy apical periodontitis. The Pan has 17% accuracy, PA 35% and CBCT has 63% accuracy. The treatment plan sequence for the failure of a primary RCT is a Retreatment - Apisectomy - Extraction - Implant. This ofcourse depends on the clinical case.
