How we can make the world a better place by 2030.............by Micheal Green. https://lnkd.in/ejFwvHG Our reflection to this is: Agriculture the pathway to shared prosperity. We make bold to say agriculture indeed serves as a vital pathway towards shared prosperity, by promoting sustainable farming practices, it ensures food security for a growing global population. Also, it fosters economic growth through job creation, industrialization, trade, and innovation. Agriculture also contributes to the balance in environmental ecosystem, reducing deforestation, and combating climate change. Thus, it plays a crucial role in improving the livelihoods of rural communities and bridging the gap between socio-economic disparities. #SharedProsperity2030

If you read my post about the UN's sustainability goals, you might find Michael Green's 2015 TEDTalk interesting. He presents a surprisingly optimistic point of view, noting global efforts - and successes - in increasing sustainability and wellbeing around the world. He introduces the Social Progress Index, which can be used as a tool to measure a society's progress toward the UN's 17 goals for sustainable development. This can be particularly helpful, given the complexity, specificity, and broad strokes presented by the agenda. And if we want to get there - which many are beginning to believe we actually can - we'll need all the tools we can get. What I find particularly fascinating is Green's economic take on the data. The Index reveals an interesting correlation between a country's social progress and its GDP, and it tells us that we already have the capability to meet our goals for sustainability, to make the world a better place, and, that we are not as dependent on the GDP as we once thought. This talk makes me think about approaches such as circular economy and how methods like these can be used to design economic structures that prioritize the wellbeing of societies. I suppose what this might look like in local communities is when a town is growing, that those developing the town utilize the sustainability goals to build out their economic plan. For example, when ideas for growth are proposed, the plans are evaluated, not only for their economic impact to the community, but for their contribution to the community's wellbeing. Interesting!

In this 2022 Ted Talk, Dr. Lyla June Johnston, shares four Indigenous land management techniques to inform the modern industrial revolution. How can we as business leaders incorporate these techniques to deliver sustainability? 🌧️ Tap into and align with the forces of nature - Why try to control the earth when you can work with her? 🦬 Intentional habitat expansion - Why put plants and animals into farms and cages when you can make a home for them and they come to you? 🌱 Create non-human centric systems - Why hoard for your own species when you can live to serve all life around you? 🪺 Design for perpetuity - Why plan for the next fiscal quarter when we could plan for generations not yet born? Learn more about this and other important insights from her talk: https://lnkd.in/e-a8C3UH Thanks for sharing this James Haarbauer! #indigenousknowledge #biodiversity #sustainability

Hey! 👋 I am so sorry for the wait because I am traveling simultaneously. However, I would love to share more about Ocearvest!🌊 I began building Ocearvest as my focus project during my time at The Knowledge Society (TKS), but it evolved into a full-time project. Also, I am currently in buildspace nights & weekends S5 program, so this is a little intro to my idea. Ocearvest implements regenerative ocean farming and hydroponics to create a greener future and decrease hunger.🌏 Regenerative ocean farming is a fairly new method of aquaculture. It involves growing seaweed and shellfish in the ocean without adding fertilizer or freshwater. On the other hand, hydroponics does not use substrate but instead uses nutrient-rich water to grow plants. For Ocearvest, the model can grow seaweed, halophytic plants (plants that can tolerate saline environments), and shellfish. Currently, I am trying to figure out how to successfully grow the plants, seaweed, and shellfish, so there will be a lot of research involved. If you know anyone or if you can help, please let me know! :D Also, if you’re interested in Ocearvest’s journey, feel free to comment or message me and follow the page. I also have a TEDx talk on the topic, so feel free to like and comment! Thank you so much! 🌟 https://lnkd.in/en-ch_MK #tedx #hydroponics #regenerativeoceanfarming #tedxvail #theknowledgesociety #buildspace #greentech #climatechange #green #ocearvest

While big nations and large companies are focused narrowly on "energy transition", SMEs and small towns led by visionary leaders are boldly undertaking a "systemic transition". A systemic transition is a multi-dimensional strategy that engages local citizens to first co-create a long-term vision for an economically and ecologically sustainable community, and then implement that vision with active citizen involvement (including co-financing). In this video, I explain how Loos-en-Gohelle, a former coal town in Northern France in economic decline, successfully reinvented itself by undertaking a systemic transition. Hope is a double-edged sword. Without action, it fades into hopelessness. But when action delivers visible results, it creates a powerful cycle: hope driving action that fuels progress. At #COP16, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, one message is clear—change is no longer optional if we want to sustain and prosper on this land. Change isn’t always easy, especially when it demands personal or collective shifts. But today’s discussions have shown that change can be both a necessity and an opportunity—benefiting the planet and the bottom line. It’s been an inspiring day speaking with ministers and stakeholders from across the globe, all united by a shared vision for the path forward. Let’s turn words into action. https://lnkd.in/dj5__ww #COP16Riyadh #UNCCDCOP16 #OurLandOurFuture #UNited4Land #FoodSecurity #ZeroHunger #SustainableFarming #AgriTech #ResilientAgriculture #WaterSecurity #WaterConservation #EveryDropCounts #SaveWater #WaterScarcity #HealthySoils #RegenerativeAgriculture #SoilHealth #SustainableSoils #LandRestoration UN Convention to Combat Desertification United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) UNDP FAO UNESCO UNFCCC-WGEO Regional Collaboration Centre (RCC) MENA and SA UN Biodiversity The World Bank Desert Control

Igniting the Power of Transformative Partnerships for Inner & Outer Transformation Join us at this vital dialogue that happened in the SDG Pavilion at COP29 in Baku, where we explored how inner transformation and relational worldviews can complement mainstream approaches to sustainability. 🔑 Why This Matters: The People's Climate Vote 2024 signals a global readiness for change. However, dominant frameworks often marginalize indigenous wisdom, relational perspectives, and the intrinsic values essential for a holistic response to climate crises. This session addressed how inner dimensions and diverse knowledge systems could reshape environmental policy; practical steps to redesign global platforms like COP to integrate inclusive, transformative practices. 🎙️ Speakers: Sister Jayanti, Additional Administrative Head of The Brahma Kumaris Prof. Christine Wamsler, Professor of Sustainability Science at Lund University, and Founder and Director of the Contemplative Sustainable Futures Program. John D. Liu, Ecosystem Ambassador, Commonland Foundation Savina Carluccio, Executive Director at International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI) Moderator: Carolin Fraude, Brahma Kumaris Germany and affiliated scholar with the transdisciplinary Research Institute for Sustainability in Potsdam, Germany. 💬 Share your perspectives. Together, we can expand the boundaries of sustainability. #COP29 #InnerTransformation #Sustainability #SDGs #BrahmaKumaris #ClimateAction #HolisticApproach #TransformativePartnerships https://lnkd.in/gDMHikHV
