As part of a fun (and nerdy!) personal project, I was introduced to the work of Social Finance. I was totally intrigued by their Career Impact Bonds concept, and asked Jess Brooks: can this be done with climate work? She said yes and "we're doing it"--hooray! I love how the project allows people to get the green jobs that we need today and will need much much more of tomorrow. My take on the £28bn Green Prosperity Plan fiasco for PRWeek. While many are claiming it has been a comms disaster, on the contrary, it has achieved key strategic election objectives: It stayed in the media for weeks = more voters now know what the Green Prosperity Plan, GB Energy, and National Wealth Fund are (key manifesto messages). It saw huge coverage of key election messages = messaging on the u-turn was directly linked to long-term economic failure. A smart counter-attack. A BBC alert read “Starmer confirms Labour will not spend £28bn a year on green plan - blaming Tories for “crashing the economy”. The result? More people now know the £28bn is out the window - and why - making future Tory attacks weaker. It is smart comms from a party seeking to position itself as economically responsible over the Tories but with a mission to invest.
