This article hits home with all Guardians. These 6 fundamental truths are what Guardians need to internalize and be able to articulate to tell our story and advocate what we do and why we are. We ARE warfighters. We ARE enablers for the Joint fight. We NEED more offensive capabilities to secure and defend the Joint Force. #ussf #guardians Saltzman cited six “core truths” about the Space Force: Space Force capabilities are critical to the joint force The Space Force must defend its capabilities for the Joint Force to project power The Space Force must protect the Joint Force from space-enabled targeting Space is a warfighting domain The Space Force is responsible for organizing, training, equipping, and operating space capabilities Guardians are uniquely trained for warfighting in, from, and to space. https://lnkd.in/etcYyv_j

The US Space Force Chief of Space Operations, Gen Chance Saltzman, along with the military space chiefs of 18 allied nations, met in Colorado Springs and have issued a joint statement on space cooperation. The joint military statement lays the groundwork for two interrelated processes to proceed over the coming years. 1. The creation of a Star Trek future where allied Earth militaries develop a combined space operations force (aka Starfleet); and 2. the stealth unveiling of a US Navy-run multinational secret space program called Solar Warden that will be rolled out as something newly created, as opposed to being decades-old and first deployed in the late 1970s: https://lnkd.in/ePfkqmKu

In a rapidly evolving global landscape, the UK’s focus on enhancing its space capabilities is more crucial than ever. Insights from our senior executives during the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 shed light on this important development. Robert Lightfoot and Nik Smith emphasised the need for resilience in space infrastructure. This resilience ensures that both military and civilian services remain uninterrupted, safeguarding critical operations on Earth. The advancements in space technology not only bolster national defence but also enhance civilian applications, highlighting the interconnectedness of these domains. As the UK strengthens its position in space, it sets a precedent for other nations to follow. #ResillienceinSpace

Today marks the 5th birthday of the U.S. Space Force—a monumental milestone for our nation and its commitment to securing the ultimate high ground: space. In just five years, the Space Force has become a critical enabler of national defense, innovation, and international collaboration, solidifying its place as the newest branch of our armed forces. For the Army Space community, this anniversary is a powerful reminder of our shared mission and the evolving role space plays in modern warfare. Space is no longer just a frontier—it’s a domain where joint operations, intelligence, and innovation converge to provide strategic advantages for the nation. The partnership between the Army and the Space Force ensures that our soldiers on the ground have the tools, technologies, and data they need to operate effectively. From advanced satellite communications to missile warning systems, space capabilities empower every aspect of the mission. As we celebrate this milestone, we honor the visionary leadership and the service members who have shaped the Space Force’s success. Together, we are pioneering a future where space remains a safe, secure, and operational domain for generations to come. Here’s to five transformative years—and to many more ahead! #SpaceForceBirthday #ArmySpace #DefendingTheHighGround

U.S. Space Command is on the cusp of standing up a new pilot to improve its ability to fuse data from multiple sources to create a single common operating picture for warfighters, according to Spacecom Commander Gen. Stephen Whiting. Across its mission set, U.S. Space Command currently operates several different systems that each produce high volumes of data necessary for conducting operations in the space domain — an amount that will likely grow as Spacecom continues to grow as an organization. The combatant command has repeatedly communicated its need for better command-and-control capabilities that can fuse all of its data for warfighters, Whiting said Monday during a webinar hosted by the Mitchell Institute. Completely agree with Lt Gen Schiess’s assessment about the need for Space Force officers to get more/earlier joint exposure and to incorporate more non-Guardians in their formations. Those sister services members ultimately go back to their respectice services with a much better understanding of what the USSF brings to the fight and how to engage it to deliver those capabilities in support of the jount/coalition warfighters. My experience over the last 18 months is that when faced with a new challenge, Guardians are inclined to develop a process rather than understand there is an established process to perform that function and merely adapt/apply the Space case to that existing process. Also, fully agree with Lt Gen Schiess about the need to expand our cooperation with Allies/Partners and commercial space. Growing CSpO and OOD are absolutely essential steps but there is much work left to be done to effectively operationalize OOD outside the FVEY information sharing agreement.

These articles raise crucial points about the Army's interest in expanding space control capabilities and the distribution of funding among different branches for China-focused conflicts. It's essential to consider the unfilled requirements needed to support specific service operations and the challenges of funding all tasked missions appropriately with limited budgets. Furthermore, while the USSF is currently tasked as lead for space “integration,” shouldnt discussions be focused on enabling joint commands, like U.S. Space Command, to define integration and set requirements for joint space architecture? Combatant Commands exist for enhancing cross-domain missions and functions to conduct joint operations. Combatant Commands also play a vital role in emphasizing collaboration, defining capability gaps, and influencing service budgets to meet their operational needs.

"Two things were made clear during the Space Warfighting Forum. The first is that space is a difficult domain as emphasized by panel moderator, U.S. Air Force (Ret) Lt. Gen. Dave Buck. 'Space is contested, it's degraded, it's operationally limited, it's—no kidding— a war fighting domain,' said Buck. 'We all need to acknowledge that, and we all need to get after that.' The second is that space warfighting is a joint effort that requires mutual support by all branches of military service."
