Have you ever sent out a resume and felt like it just disappeared into the void? If so, you're not alone! One of the biggest culprits in holding back your job search might be the very words you're using in that resume. It's surprising how a few overused terms can make your application blend in rather than stand out. Words like "hardworking" and "team player" sound nice, but they're so common that they might as well be invisible. Instead, why not showcase your unique skills and real achievements? Instead of saying you're "hardworking," share a specific example of how you tackled a challenging project and exceeded expectations. Let's transform your resume from just a list of duties into a powerful narrative of your career journey! If you're ready to refresh your resume and make a lasting impression, I’d love to help! A resume isn’t just a list of jobs; it’s the story of your professional journey. Instead of just stating what you did, show how you made a difference. What challenges did you overcome? What unique skills did you bring to the table? Think of your resume as your personal brand manifesto—authentic, raw, and real. Tailor each detail to reflect who you are and the value you offer. Let your passion and expertise shine through the words. After all, no one else has your unique combination of experiences. #AuthenticResume #PersonalBrand #CareerStory

"Should I have an objective statement my resume?" As a career coach in sports, media, and entertainment, I get this question a lot... First, let's look at the stats: 77% of hiring managers prefer a summary of qualifications over an objective statement (2021 survey by JobScan). Avoid these common objective statement mistakes: ❌ Generic statements like "I want to work in media" ❌ Vague goals such as "Looking for a challenging position" ❌ Overused phrases like "Results-driven professional seeking opportunities" Instead, focus on specifics: ✅ Highlight relevant experience ✅ Showcase transferable skills ✅ Tailor to each role you're applying for Remember: Employers want to see how YOU fit THEIR needs. Make it easy for them with your summary - especially since they're only looking at your resume for ~7 sec. What's your approach to resume objectives or summaries? **LOOK BEYOND MY RESUME: A CONVERSATION WORTH HAVING!* As I navigate the path of seeking new opportunities, I've come to realize that the most meaningful connections often arise from genuine conversations, not just credentials listed on a resume. Today, I want to extend an invitation—not to sell you on my skills, which are detailed on my profile, but to share the essence of who I am beyond the bullet points. Gratitude fills my heart as I think about the journey that has shaped me, not only as a professional but as a person. Being a special needs mom has instilled in me a resilience and a perspective on life that enriches every role I take on. My approach to leadership is deeply heart-centric; I believe in leading with empathy and integrity, values that don't necessarily jump off the page of a resume but are fundamental to the way I work and live. I am not looking to just fill a position but to find a place where my approach to meaningful impact can truly resonate. I bring more than just experience—I bring a passion and a commitment to making a difference, qualities that I've honed through both personal challenges and professional achievements. If you're looking for someone who can bring authenticity, dedication, and a rich career and personal history of life experiences to your team, I would love the opportunity to speak with you. Let's have a conversation about what's not on my resume and discover the potential for creating something great together. Thank you to this incredible community for your support and encouragement as I continue this journey. Each interaction and every word of advice enrich my professional path and personal growth. I am here, eager to learn, contribute, and connect in ways that truly matter. #OpenToOpportunities #Leadership #AuthenticConnections #SpecialNeedsMom #HeartCentricLeadership

Why you need to differentiate yourself during your job search! If you are an executive, senior manager, or professional, there are hundreds of suitably qualified candidates, just like you, that are vying for the lucrative and top jobs. The reality is, the higher you go, the fewer such available positions are available at any given time. While the traditional way of competition through reputation and word of mouth are still legitimate and a great way to gain traction- ways to communicate your reputation have evolved beyond this and it means, unless you differentiate yourself from your sea of competitors, you are not going to cut through! This does not mean distinguishing yourself with a perfumed resume (Legally Blond), elaborate personal websites, fancy LinkedIn graphics, or even a graphic based resume (which are overrated). The only way to differentiate yourself, is to tell a COMPELLING STORY. Every time a resume lands in my inbox, there is no distinguishing nuances that call out that candidate’s value. To distinguish yourself, you need to get down into the details. The nitty gritty of your unique strengths, how your leadership shaped and transformed performance, your resilience, the multidimensional you! And you can’t pull this off in just a day-or-two, or with a resume express service. It involves digging deep and reflecting on your capabilities and your successes. It involves self-reflection, asking questions and thinking through your VALUE proposition and what you really offer. Deeply researched and thoughtfully developed career marketing documents are becoming the norm (for both the private and public sector). You can’t afford to become another cliché, another copycat, another fancy graphic resume, with zero substance. To really propel your career, you need to invest in a resume, whether independently or in partnership with a real expert, so you are positioned to win. If you don’t, your competitor will. #executiveresume #resumetips #resumewriting #personalbranding

Stop counting years of experience. Start measuring impact. 🎯 Last week, I reviewed a resume that listed '15 years of marketing experience' at the top. The candidate didn't get the interview. Why? Because another candidate with just 3 years of experience showed: • $2M revenue generated • 250% social media growth • 5 successful product launches • 12 marketing campaigns exceeding KPIs Here's the truth about experience: ➤ Years worked ≠ Value delivered ➤ Time in role ≠ Problems solved ➤ Job tenure ≠ Results achieved What recruiters ACTUALLY want to see: ✓ Specific achievements ✓ Measurable impacts ✓ Problem-solving abilities ✓ Growth trajectory ✓ Adaptability Remember: Your resume isn't a timeline. It's your professional highlight reel. → Stop writing how long you've done something. → Start showing what you've actually done. The candidate with 3 years? They got the job. Because impact outweighs tenure. Every. Single. Time. 🔑 Pro Tip: Transform every bullet point from a duty to an achievement. Show the before/after. Quantify your impact. Make your value impossible to ignore. Want to know if your resume is showing your true value? DM me for a FREE resume review ($197 value).
