Post No.4 The Ministry of Urban Planning in Oman supports young couples preparing for marriage by facilitating the acquisition of subsidized residential land. This step reflects the state's commitment to caring for its citizens and providing support at key stages of their lives. Recently, a young couple approached me to design their dream villa. The challenges were evident: a small land area, a limited budget, and modern design aspirations. This prompted me to seek innovative design solutions that would meet their needs within these constraints. The design solutions I adopted were: 1. Modern and Simple Architecture: I employed a minimalist design approach, focusing on functionality and reducing complexity in the facades, aligning with the budget constraints. 2. Use of Large Windows: Large windows helped enhance the sense of spaciousness within the spaces. 3. Development of Green Spaces and Outdoor Seating Areas: To provide open areas that offer comfort to the residents. 4. Attention to Environmental Orientation of the Building: To ensure natural ventilation and daylight reach all areas of the villa. 5. Improvement of Exterior Lighting: To highlight the aesthetics of the facades. 6. Choosing White Paint and Simple Facade Projections: To reduce cladding costs and achieve the desired design in an elegant style. In the end, the couple's response to the design was extremely positive. I was able to deliver a design that met all their aspirations while reducing construction costs to a quarter of the allocated budget. This experience reaffirmed that client satisfaction is the true measure of success in any project, and thankfully, that was achieved. Iskan Houses, Ground Floor Villa.
