As we approach the end of the year, it is important to take time to reconnect with family, friends, and colleagues. At MAC, we have a fantastic team, and we enjoyed meeting up recently and celebrating all we have achieved in 2024 and the upcoming holidays. #Melbourneaudiologycentre #MAC #2024 #christmasparty #colleagues

My personal goals for my first year as the Executive Director of B Lab Germany were: 1) Stabilise our team by making our organisation a great place to work ☺️ We standardised all working contracts, published a transparent salary & career progress pathway 💷 installed multiple benefits like the #DeutschlandTicket 🚅 removed the personal financial burden of needing to reimburse expenses by setting up a corporate credit card system with Moss, sourced and built up our own office from scratch in a central location in #Berlin with good public transport connections to be a comfortable and pleasant place to work (adjustable equipment, a place to rest, many snacks from #Bcorps etc.), and moved accountants to ba tax so we could better integrate with our HR software from Personio. The team also got flexible public holidays (10), additional parental leave (40 days fully paid for second parents), a no-meetings Friday policy, plus we now close the office over Christmas. We also implemented new ways of communication and management, inspired from the #EntrepreneursOperationSystem which means we have weekly check-ins and check-outs that have helped address and ratify big painful issues. This operating system provided a process for building a 10-year vision, yearly goals, and quarterly ROCKS, aligning the team on a clear path forward while giving them the freedom to decide how to achieve it. 2) The next goal was to bring in good people to make sure we could actually achieve our goals and vision. When I started it was me at 90%, Mathieu Mohorcic (he/his) ☁ at 70% in BD+Certification, Annika Wohlert 100% split between Community and Communications, Marie Fries as a working student helping n BD, and Heiko Mitzkus 1 day per month helping with #BLeaders. Since then we discovered and developed Chongo Kasanda to first build a process for our Supervisory Board election, and then get our organisation compliant (see many of the points above), Lea E. Lassak to launch and build the #BCommunity online platform, Pauline Staats to make it easier for companies to certify on the standard approach, Chiara Lavinia Neri to help large and complex companies certify more easily, Estelle Lauvergne to evolve B Leader training into a group that can support us in certification growth, Armelle Duvieusart joined to restore faith with our community of B Corps, while Heiko Mitzkus transitioned to be the yin to my yang and translated my vision into action while at the same time filtering me from overwhelming the team. Joachim Hesse was a true entrepreneur and brought to life our certification bootcamp program called #MessenWasZahlt Karry Schwettmann and @Gina stal were big helps too covering for some absences. 3) The final goal overall was to professionalise, rebuild trust with B Corps, and deliver exceptional value to them, setting us up for a bright future together. This photo from IMPACT FESTIVAL symbolises the achievement of these three goals. Thank you to all who contributed 🙏🏿

Our Founding Member Rate Closes in 15 days, so here are 15 things about The Sensemakers Club we think are worth highlighting: 🌟 We are Community-Centered: Shifting the focus from content to community changes what's shared and how. Without the right practices and rules in place groups reflect a narrower perspective. 🔒 Safer Spaces: Not sharing videos or transcripts of our small group discussions with those that missed the meeting ensures privacy and we believe also fosters more genuine conversations. 📚 Intentional Slow Chat: We locked our 20 topic channels to promote face-to-face interaction before chat. Once you have engaged in a discussion with a group on the topic, you will have the option to be added into the asynchronous channel for that topic group. 🎥 Member Orientation: We created a set of short, mandatory orientation videos with clear do’s and don’ts, intended to create a culture of inclusion, accountability and kindness from the start. 🤝 Diverse Topics, Deep Conversations: Small groups add depth and expand what we think or identify with. We know these needs shift as our work and lives change. Our membership is an all access pass to try on whatever parts of sensemaking feel right right now. 📅 Weekly Updates: Our chief sensemaker, Abby Covert, keeps members in the loop on themes and unexpected overlaps. She uses an AI note taking assistant to tell her about the meetings each week and records a short video about what happened last week, and what’s happening this week. 👥 Trained Leaders: We are proud to offer consistent, inclusive sessions from our trained discussion leaders to ensure our community thrives. They are trained to be welcoming to those new to the club, new to the discussion, or even new to the topic. 🛡️ Thoughtful Conduct: Our code of conduct is central to every meeting, supporting safe discussions of diverse viewpoints. Every meeting has a set of rules up top, and our leaders are trained to maintain them, and bring discussions back on track when needed. 💸 Founder’s Rate: This is your one chance to lock in the lowest rate we will ever offer, AND it is guaranteed for the duration of your membership. Offer is only good til June 1st. 🤲 1:1 Membership Model: For every paid membership, we offer a free membership to someone with limited financial means. We accept sensemakers who are looking for work, un(der)employed, and/or have limited purchasing power in USD. 👩💼 Team Rate: We are open to extending a special founding rate for teams of 5+ so if you have a team of people who make sense, we want to hear from you! 👩🏫 Exclusive Access: As a special bonus, members get a standing invitation to Abby Covert’s regular interactive sessions with her students, including her popular IA office hours and diagram critiques 🛍️ 25% Off: Members get a discount on all our products, including eCourses and events 🤓 Meet Your Nerdiest BFF: It’s hard making adult friends, but here, we see it’s already happening

Workplace rituals are a core part of what makes a culture. When people dedicate time to authentic human relationships, they build a sense of community and trust. This Swedish work practice has a ton of applications for organizations around the globe, as we could all benefit from a little attention to developing lasting community relationships. #Workplace #CompanyCulture #Leadership

Minus a jungle gym, this amazing Swedish workplace ritual reminds me of recess! In elementary school, when downtime and play were honored as sources of connection, our whole grade had recess together daily. Even I wasn’t in the same class with close friends, I’d see them on the playground. Which sounds a lot like what fika does for colleagues across teams. Sweden’s fika, a daily work day ritual, is like recess: - In a workspace instead of a playground. - With colleagues instead of classmates. - To reinvigorate adults instead of kids. We all need more of this, more often. And there are fun and creative ways to do this virtually for companies where folks aren’t together. The better colleagues know each other in the way fika fosters – as humans first, colleagues second – the better we can all support each other in the best possible way. So glad this “caffeinated secret” is out. Now it’s time for the rest of us to incorporate more of this in our lives. Ps: Welcome your comments on how you’d begin: What’s a favorite fika-like experience you’ve had in your career (could be at school, work, a conference, etc)? Share to inspire! #leadership #inspiration #connection

Warning: potential minefield ahead 🚩🚩🚩 I know it’s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, but I wanted to talk about something a bit “workplacey” seeing as it had popped into my consciousness recently. 💭 Let’s get a few things out on the table first: 1️⃣ I’m a big sports fan and, due to this, I regularly listen to talkSPORT. I don’t normally listen during the day (I’d get way too distracted), so what I normally do is get the kids to bed and then rewatch the “best bits” on YouTube whilst doing the dishes. 🍽️ 2️⃣ My favourite show on there is White & Jordan. Some love him, some hate him, but I really enjoy listening to Simon Jordan (formal Crystal Palace owner, for those that aren’t aware). Yes, he has strong opinions, as a lot of successful people do. But I think he speaks a lot of sense… In MOST cases. So how the hell is this workplacey, I hear you ask? 🤔 Well, the other night I was doing some washing up and the video below came on (you may want to hold onto something hearing about my exciting, fast-paced lifestyle). 🏎️ I don’t know the exact ins and outs, but it looks like Man Utd employees will be forced back to the office in due course. If that’s how they chose to run their business, fine, this isn’t a critique on that directly or the benefits of either way of working. But it was the comments and narrative that really irked me: 👉 “If you’re working from home, you’re just skiving” 👉 “It’s effectively time off” 👉 “Lazy scrotes” Even the title: “… APPLAUDS…. ordering staff back to the office”. To me, it glorifies or, at the very least, validates the draconian approach that has been taken here. (I don’t know if these were intended as click bait or not, but it got me clicking, that’s for sure!). Now, I will freely admit there are some times that working in an office will produce a number of benefits. 🏢 I actually find I’m more productive in the office because there are less distractions for me. But many of the same and/or other benefits have been shown with WFH, too. 🏡 I think the reason it bothered me so much was that it was presented in a sweeping statement that one is better than the other (and I’ve seen this the other way, too). John Whitson-Russell hit the nail on the head with this in a recent chat we had: people will work best when given the autonomy to chose how they will do so. If that’s in the office (I actually fall into this camp most of the time), great. 👍 If that’s at home, also great. 👍 To summarise this thread of absolute carnage; I we need to embrace cultures where we trust our teams to work how they chose is best for them, and give them the flexibility to do so. As long as the work is done, that’s what matters, right? Really keen to hear other views on this, pop them down below.👇 https://lnkd.in/eCfC98hy

This wasn’t just another Friday at 1Point1 as it was a day packed with excitement! The energy was electric as our teams geared up for the festivities, taking a break to recharge and reconnect. But this time it was different. We hosted a lineup that combined brainpower with a little friendly competition—think challenging riddles to make you think and an “In and Out” game that kept everyone moving! We believe these Fun Fridays aren’t just meant for fun (although, yes, that’s a big part). They also help in: → Building connections → Relieving stress → Nurturing creativity And as they say, a happy team = a successful business Have a story about your team’s go-to bonding activities? Drop it in the comments! #TeamBonding #OfficeChallenge #1Point1

Excited to share that OpenUp is now partnering with Urban Sports Club to take workplace well-being to the next level! When we think about employee health, mental and physical well-being aren’t separate, they’re interconnected. That’s why this partnership makes so much sense. Here’s why it’s important: - Burnout and work-related stress are growing problems, especially in the Netherlands and Germany. - These challenges cost organisations over €100 billion annually, but many employees still don’t have access to meaningful support. This partnership is about more than perks. It’s about helping people feel their best, at work and in life, so they can thrive. By joining forces, clients get access to special offerings and we’re making it easier for companies to support their teams. A big thank-you to the teams at Urban Sports Club, especially Jan Willms, Jenna Simons and Araceli Escobedo to make this happen. It’s exciting to see what we can achieve together! Curious to learn more? Reach out or check the article in het Het Financieele Dagblad. #partnership #mentalwellbeing #physicalwellbeing
