The keynote opener by Marcus Buckingham on Love and Work was fantastic, highlighting how to unleash the most powerful force in business. Biggest takeaways: There’s a growing concern about rising anxiety and depression in the workplace and a loss of trust in major institutions. Here’s how we can address it: 1. Forget the “work-life balance” myth. 2. Reframe “Find a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life” to “Find the love in what you do.” The quest for the perfect job often leads to dissatisfaction and endless searching. Instead, focus on the 20% of your work that you truly enjoy, and let the rest fall into place. Leaders: - Assess both strengths and talents. - Focus on driving outcomes such as productivity, loyalty, and quality of work. - Caring is reactive; love is proactive. - Understand the difference between merely checking up and genuinely checking in with your team. - Instead of just aiming for more of what you expect, strive for more of what you’re willing to accept. #TASSCC24
